i have toagree. i thoughtof the same thing. the ark and the covenant. in the bible it says that if any unholly man touches the ark or uses it to do evil he shall surely die, but if a holly man seeks to do rightous things with it such as saving humanity then he shall not die. so in my theory the flood where created by colonol akrenson while he was creating the cloned spartons on the rings. the flood could be muffed up expierments gone wrong so he cotained them and when he needed to let them lose for security reasons. in the trailer it doesnt show who activates the arc. so maybe the original reclaimer activates it and since he is holly it will save humanity rather than destroy it. the arck can destroy and create . colonol akrenson must have known this cuz he could be a forerunner ancester so its his duty to make sure that the covenant are near so when the original reclaimer activates the arc it will destroy the covenant and create knew worlds to inhabit. the onlyway to get the covenant close eunuf was to plant the FAKE AI of cortana on the ship with the NAV points to where the arc is. also if the covenatn activate it then they will die cuz the are doing it for evil.any way thats my theory, feel free to elaberate on it. or email me

"You must face the truth squarely and without flinching from duty. Our enemies are mortal no longer. Mercy for such as they is a chimera, self-deception is its only ally. Dedicate this weapon, given unto your hand at the behest of the Emperor, to their destruction. Regard its function as your only duty: you live only to bring cleansing fire."

343 also calls Miranda a reclaimer. i think humans in general are all reclaimers

Wouldn't it be so ironic if the elites were actually the forerunner?

what if its like the battle of gog and maygog in the book of revelations. in my opinion the arc wont destroy the flood cuz in the bible it says that we wont get FLOODED again or destroyed by a FLOOD. the rainbow is a promise of that. the whole gog and maygog theory is that there will be 2 prophets killed in the streets and then the armies of gog and maygog(covenant) will fight against the rightous(humans). then the arc will open and god or a supreme being(forerunners/spartons) will apear and destroy all evil and the holly shall previel.

the whole flood/ark bible story is a story laced in human culture the guys at bungie have simply used the fiction of the halo universe to explain why man knows and fears such a fable coming true the forerunner would have taught us this as a way to make us fear the flood that is the mutant kind not the water.
personally i like how theyve done this kudos to bugie good use o research.

exactly. there has to be. and i know that flood refers to the mutants and not water but its the symbolism. u dont just add names and events from the bible to a story unless they are symbolic. i have never heard of a story that DOESNT have symbolism in it. why would bungie put the ark, flood, john, spartons( aka romans), covenant and prophets in a story and not use symbolism. those are all events and names from the bible. any way im not tryin to say im right. but i just think its interesting

While this does play into the very real debate of Africa being the civilization of humanity....I have only this to say:

Yeah, because infants can totally survive alone in the African dessert....

Its instinct, when a kid gets too hungry, they "will" start looking for food and start working together. And like i said, this is just a theory.

No, i believe that the chief is someone like John from the bible (John 1:17) The passage is actually from John 1:6-18

There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe. He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. He came unto his own, and his own received him not. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me: for he was before me. And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace. For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.

Thats who i think the chief Resembles

The story of the forerunners was that they were a highly evolved species, with amazing technology. Than they encountered the flood, who began to eradicate the forerunners. The forerunners built the facilities (that one of later became the heretic base) to study the flood, and the result of their research was the HALO system. Overwhelmed by the flood, they activated the ark (on earth) that wiped out all sentient life....Except for the remnants of the forerunners who survived on the ark who later evolved into humans. The flood, with no food, went into hibernation. The non-sentient life on previously forerunner controlled planets evolved into the diverse species of the covanant. Note that in the bible the ark is the only safe place from the flood, so species on the ark might not be entirely exterminated. Thus the covanant's "Great journey" is the prophet of truth's way of killing everyone else off while he's safe on the ark, then he can conquer all other planets with no opposition. If you think about it, Truth doesn't really believe all the religion stuff, he's manipulating others with it, so he's not about to commit suicide for it.

Remember in geography class how the continents move over billions of years? Ya...duh...

Well my theory is a little different but still related. The Ark saves a few forerunner from the flood and lets them procreate. But due to the devestaing loses due to the flood, since no one being could know anything about everything, causing the lose in technology starting them back at square one.
For example everyone knows there are cars but how many know how to build them, and of those people how many know how to form the metal, and how many know how to forge the metal how many know how to mine the ore. The same thing would've hapened to the forerunner (us) forcing them back on the technological scale to relearn how to create the technology they once had by building from more "primative" technology.

Yea, exactly. Thats what i mean by saying that the 4-year-olds crawl out of the ark, and continue on life from the age of 4. They dont know anything but one thing, to survive. And little kids will work together to find food and stuff they can eat.

what if the forrunners built a new life form to help them maybe conquer the universe when somehtign went terribly wrong and the experiments attcked them forcing thewm to build the ark and rings so they could get to safety in the ark and destry the flood.little did they no thta the flood could hbiernate and wake up again and try to destroy them.so (sum people think cortana is evil) cortana had said not to activate the ring in the first halo but only when he is in the ark wiht others so the h3 might be based on the mc trying to get in the ark with like johnson and activate the halos also wiping out the conenant.

I like your theory alot actually jester14x, but the ark was more than a boat you see...

...the ark is also thought by the jewish people to be a box that held the ten commandments

in the dictionary, ark is described as a chest; and a vessel

it does make alot of sense though, except, why the hell would the forerunners/humans want to make the flood?

it would explain as well why halo was never activated before as it was thought, the flood killed the forerunners before they could.........
