ok, my question is now answered

humanity is forerunners

no one can activate the ark without killing everyone, except MC since him and cortana are seperated. this is because cortana kept sayin activating it was bad, and she was telling the truth because her original function was not to actually help humanity. But everyone thought she was right and for them when she said this, so they wont activate it because they think it will do what it would if cortana activated it, so if they activate it knowing or believing it will kill everything, it will.

I really should start to read the books though, off i go...

Posted by: Reclaimer
Well my theory is similar. I do believe that the Humans are a less evolved version of the Forerunners. Which is ironic because the Covenant are systimaticaly trying to kill their Gods. But any way, i think the Ark was built by the Forerunners, as well as Earth itself. Just like Reach, i think Earth is a Forerunner made planet. Think about it, they can make Halo's with Earth atmospheres and gravity. I also believe that in the movie clip, the object we saw was not the Ark. I think it may have been, a tunnle like there was on Reach into the centre (or near that) of earth to get the Key (like the Index) to activate the real Ark.
Also all humans are Reclaimers. As 343 calls Miranda Keyes a Reclaimer too.
I think this is possible for three reasons:

1.Either they are given the task of activating Halo and using the Index, thus the title Reclaimer (thou this is not true, because When MC meets the Gravemind with Arbiter the "Orcal" says 'A reclaimer here? Impossible!"

2. They are the Forerunner and are given the title Reclaimer because they are back to Re-claim thier title as the Forerunners

3. Cos bungie want to trip us out on wacked out theroys.

Just my theory!

when you say 'a less evolved version of the forerunners' i can tell you dont understand evolution. Evolution is not a straight line with points alontr the way where organisms change. It is not started at point A, followed by point A.1, A.2, A.3.

Evolution is like a tree. There is a trunk, and from there, many diffrent things spurt out. For instance, Humans, Chimps, and whatever the Common Ancestor is befor the first twpo. The Common Ancestor starts out, and something happens, say a famine, that drives some of predecessors out of the forest, and onto the ground. After a few tens of thousands of years, maybe more, we begin to see changes. The semi-humans now use sharp sticks to hunt, and follow herds. They have evolved a bit of a language to communicate when on the hunt. Their toes have shifted position over time to assist running speed. And from there, it continues to branch with each new change. Some dont last long, some become permanent.

If indeed Humanity is a relative of a forerunner, we are a decendant, not a less evolved form. Therefore, your statement should read: Humans are a less developed decendant of the forerunners.

just a correction.

And I am too, and thats why Halo's story is soo cool because of the way things that relate to another thing happen. The apocalypse will happen someday, and this is bungies version of it. Its really cool too cuz, bungie incorperates the end of the world with the way the bible tells it.

Turn west on Broadway, and right at the second light on Welchester Road. There is a dirt path about a 1/4 mile way up, turn onto it. When you hit the interstate 56 sign pull back onto the road. From there take the road 38 miles towards Wisconsin. Get off at Exist 73 and take that street to Vermont Road, and take a left at the stop sign. Go down that street to the fifth house on the left. Go into the backyard and open the shed. There you will find my leaf blower, its yours to keep.

i have to agree with ur historical idea's of human history. if u think about like this humans are forerunners the dinosaurs died off do to the rings first going off and humans where left on earth on the ark that saved them from the flood. so the few left begain life new on earth which they found later on.

If you take the Halo story as in the Flood story in the Bible you could make some connections.

1. Noah could be thought of as the Master Chief; he rounds up everyone and brings them into the Ark.

2. The Flood consumes the world, Earth, except for the Ark. Probably the Covenant also but maybe the get spared too.

3. They wait it out. Hey maybe that crystal shard from the Halo Novels has some part, since they have time bending capabilities the Ark would fast forward time until the flood recedes so that the survivors can come out and prosper again!

The Shard was destroyed in first strike when one dude got drunk and commited suicide by blowing himselfup

Locklear got drunk when he did that?
I must've skimmed over that detail (or just forgotten).

I got this from Halosm but i submit this for your entertainment and discussion.

The covenant are not the "evil" protagonists in the plot humans are the children of the flood explaining our swarmlike properties. The reason the flood tries to destroy all sentient life in the Galaxty is because they are the antichrist. Or in this case antichrists. there ability to control a host is the pale horse and rider from the Bible revelations. Apocalypse so theoreticly there is no great evil in the Galaxy even us despite us being the son of the Antichrist.

If you remember the Maw in Halo 1, in the cut scene where guilty spark takes the self destruct sequence of line, you'll hear him say: "...a record of all our lost time!" (I've forgotten what he says just before). That was the first clue to me that the forerunners were humans: then the name makes sense. However, he also says: "human history is it? Fascinating." Which sounds like an odd thing to say. And yes, the story is tieing in woth the Bible.

No it isn't.
"The Ark" and the "Flood" are just names. That is the only thing from the bible that is in the game. It is not "tying in" with the bible in any other way.

u wanna bet

The doors of God's Temple in Heaven flew open, and the Ark of his Covenant was clearly seen surrounded by flashes of lightning, loud shouts, peals of thunder, an earthquake, and a fierce hailstorm.
-Revalation 11:19 (the message version)

The only thing we didnt see in the trailor was the fierce hailstorm. And if you know anything about revalation, you know that its basically about how the world ends.

Why do you hope im wrong? Just because its based off the bible doesnt mean its going to be a bad game. In fact it will prolly be better.

Came up w/ another one, altho not entirely sure if its true

The Armor of God Theory

Put on the whole armor of God, so that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For our struggle is not against enemies of blood & flesh, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers of this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God,
so that you may be able to withstand on that evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm. Stand therefore, and fasten the belt of truth around your waist, and put on the breastplate of righteousness. As shoes for your feet put on whatever will make you ready to proclaim the gospel of peace. With all of these, take the shield of faith, with which you will be able to quench all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Pray in the Spirit at all times in every prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert and always persevere in supplication for all the saints. - Ephesians 6:11-18

Belt of Truth - MC's utility belt, truth being correspondence to fact or reality.
Breastplate of Righteousness - MC's Breastplate, always behaving according to a religious or moral code, notice how MC always does his duty
Shoes for the Gospel - MC's boots of course, a set of beliefs held strongly by a group or person, MC believes the covenant need to be stopped pretty much.
The Shield of Faith - I beleive this could be cortana, as she says she is his shield, belief in, devotion to, or trust in somebody or something, especially without logical proof.
Helmet of Salvation - actually, i think this could be cortana too, u know, inside his head, the saving of somebody or something from harm, destruction, difficulty, or failure
Sword of The Spirit - This is a tough one, it could symbolize his weapon or, as cortana says she is his sword, a vital force that characterizes a living being as being alive

And im not saying that this is true either, just another theory.
