Okay, well, this is a great explination of all our questions. Thank's to M@X!MU$, and el evano's help!

First off, I'd like to point out that "Chief" has an assult rifle. If this was really Master Chief (John), how did he get it? I mean, doesn't Earth have all the new weapons? Shouldn't he have a battle rifle? Didn't he end Halo 2 without a weapon?

Second, never in the entire trailer do we hear Chief speak. Here's another reason to believe that it's not the Master Chief. Many people think that he has "new" gloves. Why then, didn't he get an entire new suit? Could the gloves be from the "old" suit? The one from Halo 1? As you can see, he has huge gashes in his armor maybe they could even be from a creature's claws.

Here's another thing... Notice how he just stands there as this so called "weapon" fires? He is not one bit scared. On the other hand, the entire Covenant fleet tries to get away from it.

You know how everyone says that Forerunner artifact is a weapon? I have good evidence that it's not! The clouds are swirling as the artifact opens... Then a beam of light emerges from the artifact and shoots off into space - not! Why would Earth have a weapon to kill itself? Do you guys remember in the end of Halo 2? What is the Master Chief on? A FORERUNNER SHIP! I believe that the artifact is a landing zone, the beam of light the ships exaust! It makes perfect sense! That's why it fades out to white, so nobody knows that the ship lands there. See for yourself...

**I will update this as we make more discoveries.
***I took all these screenshots.

hm, all of those were logical and made sense. But you left out the mysterious lights on his visor. Actually, I also thought it was a forerunner ship, or some sort of landing pad or something because after looking at a picture of the one currently known, it makes sense (I examined the architecture around it)

And he nods because he knows it is MC (John) and that is why he also wasnt sacred.

(btw, it should be "explaination") So Sno, what's your take on the lights though? I'd really like to hear what you think. Perhaps the ship was taking off and the covie ships were getting out of the way?

Oh and to add to this remember when the 2 Banshes flew over him well i think that the Cheif is Fred and the two Banshes are Kelly and Linda because they didnt attack and they werent scared of the light and also i think the lights in Freds vizor was him talking to Linda and Kelly maybe even MC and the nod of his head was to tell Linda and Kelly to move on toward MC...

If that weapon is really as destructive as it looks (if it is a weapon), then the quarter mile or so he could run would really have no effect on whether or not he lives.

You have free time... do you spend it or save it?

come on guys its chief, and the assult rifle looks upgraded, so mabye it not the assult rifle, mabye its like a versitile gun with different modes of fire, and did anyone else notice the three acknowledgement lights and a head nod, that means there are more than one spartan wthin communication distances.

Master Chief is refered to as "The Chief" numerous times in the games, and this site.

Sorry, but your supporting facts are weak. Unless you have some solid proof... I'm going to believe that's Master Chief.
