I think that MC takes an incredible amout of damage. Is cryogenically frozen. Wakes up, unaware of who he is or where he is. Finds a job as a security officer. Gets all 2-D and pixelated. Boom. Marathon.

Hmmm, interesting. Maybe he dies, and is placed in the Mauseloum. And this cements a new peace between the Covonant and the Humans?

...Or maybe Master Chief aka the baddest mofo in the universe goes on to stop the arc, blow up all the halos, kill all the covenant and get every babe on the face of the earth.

I was talking about the Arbiter himself, everyone wants him to die.

If the last game is anything to go by this one will probably have the most *irritating* finale in gaming history! It'll probably be something along the lines of we never know whether the chief dies or not, because a simple yes/no answer is just too pathetic an ending!

Scenario 1: He Survives- then what? "here chief have a medal and a cup of tea and then go farm sheep in new new new zealand (or whatever it's called in the future)?" Not bloody likely!

Scenario 2: He dies- sure it would be an epic, matyr-ish ending, but its been done so many times in film and games (Matrix 3 anyone?) that it no longer holds much of an impact (don't get me wrong, I'd be horrified if the chief died, but its not entirely unexpected)

Personally I think its going to be something so completely out of the blue that no one will be able to predict it, otherwise what's the point in doing it? Anyone who's read the last installment of Stephen King's Dark Tower series will know *exactly* what I mean.

Or I guess he could wake up in the shower and find it's all been a dream...oh...wait, that's been done too. ;-)

He'll have to walk into some more Halo pulse generators with his shield on like in Halo CE but evil Cortana will turn off his shield. And he'll die. Nah.

Why is Captain Kirk climbing the mountain?

i reckon Cortana will save him or somthing in some kind of Artifical haven in the middle of nowhere...Honestly and if Bungie are smart and we know they are they should continue the Saga build it into somthing Amazing and then end it i really dont think ive known halo for long enough to see it end....WE NEED MORE.....what ever twist u make plz dont let it end

Neem deel aan de NL Group, om het spel beter te begrijpen en makkelijker met/tegen vele andere Nederlanders te spelen.

I'm guessing he will die, he is a spartan after all. His body is probably as f'd up as Darth Vader's body. Like he and Cortana will rendevouz and live happily ever after, I think not. Sometimes people who had never truly lived will die for the greater good, same with him, but I don't know about Cortana. It does sound very unfair do, but that's life..
On the other hand he could be the sole survivor of the human race. I'm sure it won't be a happy ending..

There is no other appropriate finish for a character so loved, and the emotional reaction it would invoke in the player would be intense. Besides what would a Cyborg that has only known war his whole life do when it's over?

The definition of a cyborg according to wikipedia: The term cyborg, a portmanteau of cybernetic organism, is used to designate an organism which is a mixture of organic and mechanical (synthetic) parts. Generally, the aim is to add to or enhance the abilities of an organism by using technology.

While there are parts of this definition that fit into who Master Chief is. He is not a cyborg!!! Without the armor he could still jump higher than any man, crush a man's skull with his hands, and do anything else his genetically altered body can do. Remember when John was fighting the ODST after the alteration in Fall of Reach. He didn't have armor there. To answer the rest of the thread, I have to read more.

The clue here is the state of mind of Cortana. I believe she has turned somehow and is now the key to destroying Halo. She sounds as if she's gotten Religious. Scary idea for an A.I. don't you think? The cheif will have to kill her in the end. I would assume it would be something reminescent of the Matrix trilogy. Something like this...
The cheif will have to download Cortana who has grown into this all powerful being in control of her own Halo, into his suit and then kill himself in order to kill her before it's too late...
Wouldn't that make for a great ending?

I hope he doesn't die!!! It would be sad and would make the trilogy so epic it would hurt!!! I do see how MC could be compared to a Jesus character in so much as he will possibly have to sacrifice himself for mankind and their salvation, as Jesus did. This martyrdom would create an exciting finale and depending on the story, possibly Fred, Linda, or Kelly could become the next MC and continue humanity's quest to explore the Final Frontier.

Disclaimer
I am Jewish, so this is not a bashing of Jesus and the savior of so many ppl!

either he dies in some spectacular, martyrdom way...

or i want him to say "I need to retire" then after the credits.. you see him on a beach, all geard up.. with a coctail in his hand..with gravemind at the bar, wiping glasses, some grunts are playing beach ball..and two food infection forms are massaging his feet.

oh and cortana is making out with 343 GS

yeah that or he dies..

Well there are only about 7 different stories in the world.
