No to this, and no to the idea of a higher limit for people with higher titles.

Yeah

Some people would probably kill themselves if they couldn't spend their entire day on Bnet.

I don't think that will work for me. I would go through that limit in less than an hour.

Crap guys, this wont work for Ken. call the webteam in for overtime. we need to rethink everything.

They'd just use alts to spam, and a main to make "on topic" replies.

What's sad is that there is already a large number of people on this site who already use alts for doing just that :|
Though isn't it usually from people in the Flood, espically if they get banned, I think that one guy who keeps making alts and going on the flood is a good example of that.

If I am not posting, then I am reading what you might have posted.

A post limit is pure meh. That would make me less active in the forums along with others. This idea is quite horrific.

Without going off on a tangent... again, privileges.
Privileges are earned.
If a members gets banned frequently enough for the content of their posting, then why shouldn't they be put on a form of probation, in which their posting is capped for a period of time?
Everyday they go without being banned they're allowed to make more posts, until they're back at the standard infinite posts.

If they get banned during this 'probation' then the hammer will strike more severely.
It would actively make people think 'hang on, I've got on ... posts to make today, is it really worth getting into this unnecessary fight, or posting the first thing that comes into my head?'
I could honestly see it working.

I wear the cheese, it does not wear me.

This account is now retired due to WLID changing. Webteam needs to fix that, seriously >.>

Though I could not think of a way to target the main problem, your words inspired me to take a new approach to a related problem currently in discussion in a place far, far away and unrelated to this thread or indeed bungie.net at all. Thanks.

When approaching a problem, always make sure your solution targets the actual problem and not the symptoms of the problem.

I'm not sure if I made it clear - but I don't support a cap for everybody, only those with a recent, and colourful ban history.
It's not a way of slowing the traffic on the forums or attempting to cull the flow of information.
Just a way of encouraging the 'think before you post' attitude in those who haven't developed it yet.

The amount of content you can contribute to the community should be tied to how much you can be trusted.

At the moment, the above is typically either a "yes, go ahead and post as much as you want", or "nope, nothing; you're blacklisted". I would much rather see a post limit as a variable which moves according to your amount of trust. The more you behave, the more opportunity you have to contribute, and vice-versa.

Without going off on a tangent... again, privileges.

I agree with this.

Make bans more painful? ARE YOU HIGH! I bumped one thread and with no warning got a ban and Im still upset over losing my title... Have you ever been banned? They hurt enough.

Then you need to rethink what you post. Like the OP said, if you had to actually put thought into what you said, it would have a lot more quality, instead of drivel.

OT: I'd love to see some sort of post limit system implemented where your title determined your alloted PPD. Regular members get maybe 50, Heroic get 75, etc. Something like that, I'm just throwing things at the wall to see what sticks.

You would basically be restricting access to the forums.

What about when Bungie announces a new game? Now you can only post 20 time, and then it's over. Time to walk away.

If this was the case, I would personally leave.

Make it forum specific.

unlimited posts in places like game forums
Limited posts in The Flood
etc etc

20 posts per day?
Holy crap, no.

I get 20 posts in less than five minutes. I'd hate if this happened.

Per Audacia Ad Astra!

I dont think it's a good solution O.P , B.net work fine for me and apparently for regular user. Don't change something wich is already accepted by people or the consequences will be catastrophic for a community...

This is silly. If a solution eliminates all relevant consequences of a problem (the "symptoms"), then the problem itself ceases to be. There's nothing wrong with coming at something from behind.

You guys sackride him so much, even when your opinion is different than his.

I personally think that there should be a limit as to how many posts that a user can make in the mains per day. Not necessarily to get rid of bad posts but just so that people don't waste an unnecessary amount of their time on a video game developer's website.

I recall one mustachioed member saying quite recently that he has posted into the triple digits per day on occasion. Certainly, a post limit would allow him or her to reflect on his or her posting habits and find better things to do with his or her time.

I think having a post limit would be pointless. No thanks.

Yes, there're too many numbers in my name.

IT doesn't seem like this so called solution would solve any real issue.

Hello, I'm Mr AwesomePizza. I like pizza and I'm a man. Reasoning for the name. I like to listen to the classics of music, write poetry, play video games, and much much more. I'm always down for a nice chat, so please hit me up for some conversation.

What if a surge of very interesting threads come around? I can only post to certain ones than? What if I engage in a debate with another poster? Have the debate just stop randomly and never have it finish? Point is, we need unlimited posts. Sure the current system used is abused just like every other system, but that doesn't mean we have to abandon it. We have Ninjas, and other moderators that are willing to clean up any garbage that some user posted.

I remember when I used this space to put cool looking links to my chapters back in the day. I don't even know why I'm using it now. Why are you even reading this? You must be interested in me. Still reading?

Why do you care how other members spend their time?

I don't, particularly. I just think it would be mutually beneficial if said member made fewer posts.
