Subject: Greatest achievement in the community?

-Bungie All Star Nameplate Winner
-Forgehub: Hub of the Dead III Winner
-Custom Games host for TheHaloForgeEpidemic
-Halotracks: ex staff

"In peace the sons bury their fathers, but in war the fathers bury their sons." -Croesus

What is the highest honor you have achieved in the community?

Examples:

Bungie games

-Recon Armor (Halo 3 - when exclusive)
-All Star (Halo: Reach - when exclusive)
-Beta tester
-Humpday winning team (name community played for)
etc.

Bungie Forum
-Average Joe article (or other member recognition)
-Moderator (current or former)
-etc

For me my highest was being a Bungie All Star back on reach when the nameplate was still exclusive (before Bungie Day). Don't believe me?

Whats your story?

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

I was an original all star, those were the days.

*on Reach
kid: OMG, HOW U GET THE STAR, U BUNGLE, FRIEND REQUEST NAOW!!!
me: no, LOL

That was fun while it lastest. But really I was more excited I could make a custom avatar people could use on this site and I am glad some people are using it.

Who the hell do you think I am?

The highest honor I've recieved in a Halo game would be getting all the achievements in Halo 3 and ODST (used to be Reach as well until the new achievements came out)

And I guess for the forums it would be getting to legendary.

Those indeed were the days, everyone on this forum knew you had the star because you wouldn't shut up about it.

OT: I haven't really achieved anything in the community, other than Mythic if you see that as an achievement.

EDIT: I suppose I could include getting a screenshot featured in a weekly update during the All Star contests.

My most honored achievements are not work safe or appropriate for this forum.

Well, here we are. I guess that it was destined to come to this.

Not so much an "achievement" as that might indicate that I had set it as a goal and/or made specific efforts in order to bring it about.

But I have to say that meeting, shaking hands, talking with, even sitting down for beers/coffee/pizza with members of the Bungie team are certainly among my most memorable times as a fan(boy).

The same sort of enjoyment and excitement also happens when I meet and find common ground and camaraderie with other members of the community.

Swag, armor, badges, and other such things are nice and all, but for me, the culture of and surrounding Bungie has always been what interested, attracted, seduced and keeps me going. Both the people IN Bungie and IN the fan community are some of the most (compared to the general populace) like-minded, similarly humored, and easy to befriend people I know of.

So, my "greatest achievement"? Every time I make another friend.

I got the All Star too... and Recon armour... etc etc... but they hardly count as 'achievements'...

So I guess nothing?

Have you seen my mind anywhere? I seem to have lost it...

x0x 0x0 0x0 0xx 000 0x0 000
x0x x0x x00 0xx 0x0 x0x 0x0

I have seen you future

Since I have never been awarded anything in the community or had a chance to hang out with members of the community at an event such as PAX I would say that my achievement would be figuring out that CWO_Jorge_052 was a ninja alt (scroll down).

Other than that minor achievement I have had two reallllyyyy successful threads. Like breaking multiple hundreds of posts.

I was invited to the friends and family beta of Halo 3, pre-Crackdown.

I was awarded Recon in Halo 3 for my efforts in the Bungie vs. World playlist, pre-ODST.

I was interviewed as an Average Joe.

I have had my screenshots featured in both Bungie Weekly Updates (towards the end) and 343i updates (number 12).

Oh, and I was on Bungie favourites with a prototype map I had made on Foundry.

That was the response I was secretly looking for. I imagine there is nothing better then actually meeting with Bungie staff members. Much less, playing with them.

I remember that screenshot article you wrote back in the day! I always used that as a guide and it helped me out so much.

Thanks!

I guess my biggest honor would be getting interviewed by urk along with one of my good friends for the Bungie Favorites feature back when they were still doing that. That was the first time that something I had been involved with had been recognized by the greater Bungie community.

13.72 billion years in the making.

On December 1st, 2012, I met Neil deGrasse Tyson. I shook the man's hand, and even made him laugh. Not much else to do with my life now.

I'm a Mythic. That's my greatest achievement.

In terms of the community, I'd say Coup is a very impressive achievement. People put a lot of effort into the script, and it's one of the reasons I love B.net.

“Oh, it’s a little bit of everything, it’s the mountains, it’s the fog, it’s the news at six o’clock, it’s the death of my first dog, it’s the angels up above me, it’s the song that they don’t sing, It’s a little bit of everything.”
- Dawes, A little bit of everything

I'm nobody, and I haven't accomplished anything impressive here. At first I thought this thread was about the community at large and what we've done, to which I would point towards custom maps and gamemodes, screenshots, and machinima. See, I've never really thought of myself as an important person here, but rather just some guy who's along for the ride. I enjoy it here, people are generally nice (even if there's a few people who really grind my gears, I know I've done the same to others in the past).

If I were to think of my greatest achievement here, honestly, it would be that one day I decided to play a match of Halo 3 alone, and I found myself against some people who I now call friends. These people indirectly helped me think about what I wanted to do with my life, and I ended up turning my dead-end life around and I'm not in college pursuing a career that I believe I will enjoy. That, that is my greatest achievement here (thanks to you guys).
