Subject: (Primordium spoilers) The Flood & Precursors?

So in Primorium, the Timeless One turns out to be a Gravemind! Spoilers now! Does this mean that the Precursors are just the last stage of the Flood, or is the Timeless One lying, cause this guy's had the tendency to lie (ie, him being the last Precursor. later on revealing there are other Precursors still alive). So what do you think? Are Precursors really just a form of the Flood, or is the Timeless One's just lying, while other Precursors are just a highly advanced species, that might have created the Flood, which is could explain how the Timeless One is able to become a Gravemind. Somewhere out in the Universe? Comment and let me know your opinion, thanks.

Subject: The Flood turns into Precursors? (Primordium spoilers)

Well, I just learned from Grey101 here that the Precursors are actually a society of multiple races that came before the Forerunners; Primordial is the last remnant of his particular race, but from what I an guess (I haven't read it yet) may not be the last of the Precursor civilization.

I need to read the book to be sure; a lot to consider, even worse when I don't have the source material. But from what I can gather, The Flood was deemed as the perfect organism in the eyes of the Precursors, and that the Mantle includes succumbing to the Flood, so it can be guessed that at least some of the Precursors are Flood (and may be the origin of the Graveminds?) but others may not be....

I'm not sure, need to read it :/

I wonder if the Flood were as violent to the Precursors as they are to everyone else if the Precursors willingly let themselves be infected.

This man, this man right here put it so eloquently that I actually cancelled my own 2000+ word long post.

The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

Please, as a favor to use that havent read Primordium, can you please change your title to something not so revealing? I know it has a spoiler warning, but it's like saying ''DOM DIES? (GOW3 spoilers)

I finally started reading Cryptum last night, and wouldint want to have main parts of Primordium already spoiled for me when I havent even finished Cryptum. Thanks.

Yeah, it's kind of weird envisioning the Flood being as they are, to suddenly stop and obey someone other than themselves.

I understand that you don't want to be spoiled man, but in the title of the post I expicitly wrote "Primordium Spoilers!". That should be a clear indicator that if you haven't read Primordium yet, dont look, just an idea.

Dont worry, I havent read the post, and I wont either. But if you want to keep the title, than at least put Primordium spoilers first.

@accordingto343

Your one stop shop for all of 343's fabulous errors and ridiculous notions in the Halo lore.

Putting (Spoiler) in the title with the spoiler in it makes zero sense.

What I found most interesting was that the flood can actually choose who to infect and that the so called cure that humans had found didn't really exist.

  • 01.06.2012 12:31 PM PDT

Abso-freakin-lutely.

There was no cure, the Precursor told the Didact that the Flood purposely retreated as they were to be the true keepers of the Mantle.

Where did Grey101 learn that from?

  • 01.06.2012 3:09 PM PDT

In his post, he said "might" so it's probably just his theory on it.
