Subject: Factions Possibly Confirmed for New IP?

// Chapter
// My PC

2/15/12: Francisco Porras, I'll miss you. Rest in Peace.

As most of us believe, Bungie's new IP (Destiny) will contain factions. With that in mind, while I was reading through this article, I read the following sentence from Bungie's graphics engineer Hao Chen:

For example, our worlds are more colorful than most FPS games; we have fantastic skies that you can't find in reality; the shapes of our structures and objects conform to a consistent visual language depending on which faction they belong to.
Now, I do think he is talking about destiny, mainly because (as far as I know of) there haven't been any factions in any previous Bungie game, please correct me if I'm wrong.

Anyways while this isn't really anything new I thought I would share it with my fellow community members.

Subject: Factions Confirmed for New IP?

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

The covenant and UNSC could be considered factions.

:p

I guess they could be considered factions but I've never heard them referred to as that.

Yeah, I think it is for their next IP too. Factions sound interesting.

The screenshots in the article are from the "O Brave New World" vidoc. They could possibly be from Destiny, but some think that it's from Reach though.

It is all just speculation, nothing is confirmed until it is confirmed.

I wouldn't call that a direct confirmation at all, though I do believe the existance of factions is likely given the wealth of copyrighted names and T-Shirts that match up with said names that we've seen on Bungie Employees.

In that paragraph he's talking in general about worlds that Bungie have made. And it's true, you can tell if you're in a very-Right-Angled Human Building compared to a curvy and purple Covenant Building or an angular Forerunner Building.

"You mentioned this already... removing all the jaggies, having very clean foliage edges, and awesome looking hair with no artifacts. Removing these digital artifacts that remind people you are staring at a computer screen is one of our top priorities."

having very clean foliage edges, and awesome looking hair with no artifacts.

Destiny confirmed for first person hair styling and gardening game designed specifically for the Wii MotionPlus.

That's why I love the power of a question mark, but for some reason I really think he's talking about Destiny. I can't really explain to you why. I just seems that he would be talking about their future endeavors rather than on Halo.

It also says that the following quote was taken from another part of the interview.

"Chen commented elsewhere in the interview"

They should have a thieves guild in their new game.

This is what it seems like they're talking about. They've built different types of architecture that have evolved throughout the series and are now very easily distinguishable.

That picture was released a long time ago.

That statement is in the past tense. Human ships look different from Covenant ships look different from Forerunner rings and stuff.

The only factions I know are the Horde and Alliance. I am excited to see what Bungie is going to tell us now.

I'm really hoping they aren't making a WoW clone, I really am...

I mean there are good ones out there, like Rift and Old Republic, but it's such a tried formula that it'd be an insult to Bungie's talents! (no offense Bioware...)

I'm hoping they do something like Eve, but with less focus on the economy and more focus on the individual player. Maybe something like Star Trek where players get a ship and explore the universe, getting a chance to leave the ship and actually explore.

Pretty much all I want is Han Solo: The Game.
