But if that goes horribly wrong, as it likely will, I'll just have to push Grunts all the way to the loading point after getting the flock of Heretics into the 2nd energy conveyor belt room. *shudders* THE AGONY!!

Is that possible? I tried to do that before and they were stubborn. But then again I didn't have thunderstorm on and to this day I don't know if heretics whip out swords.
The Grunts seem to run down with me on an xbox and the four Grunts always spawn in the first conveyor room too.

And this is why I hate M$ (or at least the people behind the port Hired Gun or whatever). So many damn fails. If I had H2 for Xbox, this could all have been averted. This is just like my experiences with the Reach demo.

Fortunately, I still managed to get all the Heretics and I brought down the allies but not too close to the lz because the supply cases get deleted because of the sheer number of Heretics.

It certainly is. If you mean the Grunts, I believe you just need to get them close to the lz.

If you mean the Heretics, you just got to go into the room. It's still annoying though.

They can't.

Update! Alright I'm very close now. It was a pain in the ass getting it to work out but I was able to get 2 convenient cps while setting up 1 blockade, leaving only 1 more to setup. I think I lost 1 Elite from his leaning against wall damage glitch problem but other than that, I didn't lose any Heretics unintentionally. But after the cp, I can't take it anymore!

So I modded Elite shields so they could withstand 20+ standard melees or 5 fuel rods or 2 grenade sticks so I could move them around faster and so I don't have to make them invincible for the battle. And I'm going to make the Grunts invincible because of the bad port known as H2 Vista.

The only good thing about this testing is that I got a good route to make it considerably more easier for all of you. I will never do this again after this!!

Well, it's pointless bringing the Grunts. They'll just get headshotted. On the other hand, one could do a Grunt only collection. Not only would it make things easier, but they would likely throw even more grenades with Catch on.

Also, it looks like there's more to surprising the Heretic leader than I thought. It might vary by game save. This time, I just went up the ramp (or next to it) to the left of him, showed myself, and he was surprised most of the time although I have yet to get him to stop going in the Banshee.

I also gave up on bringing the Elites before the Heretic leader cp. It always results in the supply cases being deleted. This also seems to happen if I try to hoard weapons to the lz. I'm also guessing it has to do with how long I stay away from/how long I haven't loaded the lz. All I know is that the supply case inconsistency makes bringing allied AI a hazard to my health so I've done testing (I also got rid of a bunch of GB from all those fail videos of my attempts).

Without securing allies, the AI collection is much more easier.

Update! Just did a last minute test.

It seems that the supply cases don't disappear if you get the cp after trigger point #4.

Also, although 3 Elites is the max number of Elites you can get unfortunately, give them swords and they kick ass. Awesome carnage!!

Of course, this was with Mythic skull + 3x shield bonus via modding. I haven't tested it with only Mythic skull but they'd probably still kick ass as long as you were supporting them.

Now I'm going to try to retain the Heretic leader, get a cp right after that, then get the allies past the lz along with a bunch of weapons and get 1 more cp and call it a night.

Final update for now. I'll be sleeping because I finally did it. I got the 3 Elites to fight the Heretics.

It was a blast with Catch on, total pwnage when I gave them swords, and this was only tested at 1 area of the map.

I may have underestimated the enemy numbers so this is actually a mini-mega battle. Right now, I only know the # of Elites. Total of 16 possible (17 if we count the Heretic leader) but 4 are territorials and if you kill those off, you only have 12 Heretic Elites. As for the Grunts, I think there's about 20 but again, if you kill the territorials, you're left with around 14 Grunts.

I suppose I could add more Elites by hijacking Banshees but how do I get the pilots out without them dying via fall? :S

Nonetheless, it's entertaining and amusing to see the Grunts stick themselves and blow themselves up in what looked like a chain reaction of Grunt self-destruction. :P

Not to mention the weapons I can give the Elites. Quite a lot of options. I have 3 swords, 3 fuel rod guns, and some other weapons.

Yep, now that I'm finally done with this project. The battles I'll be presenting will be extra juicy with tons of combat potential. Solo is nice and all, but I like having allies working with me.

Also, did you know that the Elites on The Arbiter can hijack enemy Banshees? An Elite just hijacked a Banshee and fought the Heretic Banshees while I was away.

I'll have to check. I may have deleted it as I've got tons of battle footage.

I would suspect if elite AI and marine AI are the same, elites couldn't hijack. Hmm, weird.

Well they are based on the same AI (Gravemind (the modding program for H2 Vista) calls it generic) but there are some differences.

Also consider that troopers in Reach can pilot Seraphs.

I did take this into consideration. However, they can only pilot the seraph, not hijack one. If an elite ally was to share the SAME EXACT AI as an marine ally, they shouldn't be able to hijack. Matter of fact, I've never seen an elite ally hijack a vehicle.

Well I guess that the post on that modding forum that I got it from was wrong then.

Here's the Elite I was talking about.

3 times but I never got any interesting results. Mostly pointless since they don't follow scripting (I don't think they have the same as the Phantom).

I'll see if I can. I'm tired right now.

After 2 hours of failures, frustrations, and setbacks (would have been 3 if I didn't stop playing for 2 back to back classic episodes of Spongebob), as well as excessive hair pulling and swearing, I have finally finished my setup, which is over the top (the reason for this uncanny behavior), only losing 1 Heretic Elite in the process due to the sword lunge when I was trying to move a supply case (I killed 1 other, a Sentinel Beam wielder, but I believe him to be a territorial, or at least, unwilling to move on unless drawn closer to the door).

I can safely say as soon as I get all these videos showing the setup up, I am done with this project and I'll be retiring from H2. In fact, I was on the verge of cancelling it earlier... I faced multiple problems: lunging at Heretics when trying to move supply cases, ending up killing them, moving supply cases into position only to end up dying from enemy fire (Angry was off) or the supply cases disappearing from the sheer number, Heretic Grunts being killed by friendly fire, Heretic Elites jumping over the supply cases.

Anyways, the reason why I say it's over the top is because I now have a huge weapons cache in the lobby (I don't know the exact numbers): 3 fuel rod guns, 3 carbines, 7 plasma pistols, 9 plasma rifles, 4 sentinel beams, 6 needlers, and 2 beam rifles.

Here's a sample of my new gametype. I don't know what to call it. Catch kinda ruins the element of surprise that I had (although I didn't turn it on until I got the cp for this battle so I can easily prevent it) as the Elites throw grenades at the Heretics.

The story:

Arbiter must make a daring rescue mission of a Spec Ops team of Elites who were sent to the Gas Mine after Arbiter and his current team, they bearing the brunt of the Heretic reinforcements and the surviving members (now only 3 Elites) have managed to drive the Heretics back and have contacted their leader (Rtas Vadum) for assistance. Rtas has sent you in his place.

As for the Heretic leader, there's a canonical explanation for his presence:

As it turns out, the devious Heretic leader was waiting in ambush, having crashed his Banshee after fleeing and hid himself in the opposite door. Fortunately, the Phantom sent by Rtas has arrived, distracting him so you can sneak in unnoticed.

I have finally made my decision. I'm going to retire from H2 projects, but I'm not going to stop playing H2 or stop devising new strategies for a level (if an opportunity comes up). Instead, I'm going to just play around with the modding programs to make it more fun!! :D

Some mods I've already done to enhance the Heretic horde battle:

-plasma pistol restored to CE, but retaining H2 characteristics. The overcharge hasn't been touched other than it's damage, which is about the same as a melee from a small arms weapon, and the overcharge time, which is about the same as the H3 plasma pistol.
-plasma rifle restored to CE, but retaining H2 characteristics. Now when fired full auto via holding down shoot key, there is less likelihood of overheat, but a lot of spread. But when fired semi automatic, in short accurate bursts, it easily overheats like in H2
-Sentinel Beam is a gravity gun and has infinite ammo but the force isn't too powerful on infantry to send them flying long distances
-increased fov
-made Heretic Elite Majors more smarter and less reckless by giving them Elite Spec Ops AI (so they can probably throw grenades now)
-sword autoaim range (how close you have to be to lunge) is slightly bigger so I can lunge from further distances. This is to compensate for lack of long distance sword flying in H2 Vista

Another thing I did earlier horrified me so I quickly removed. It was giving Heretic Elites Ultra Elite AI. They all pulled out swords. D: I also made them pull out skulls but they couldn't damage me with it due to their glitched melee. Right now, I'm planning on making it so that the Heretics dive from grenades more.

Behold, my newest setup (5 Elites vs. 20+ Heretics).

I could only give 4 of the 5 Elites swords because there aren't any more on this level. Of course, I could give them Ultra Elite AI so they pull out swords. I could also give the Heretic Elites Ultra AI. Then we would see sword vs. sword action. :3 I would have to strengthen the friendly AI shielding to compensate for the Heretic's numerical advantage.

Awesome! Would there be a way to switch the weightings aorund in the heretics favor? I know the heretics already have numbers, but perhaps handicapping the Spec Ops weaponry would result in a closer battle.

Muhahahahaha!! Yes indeed, there is. I can give them uber shields and make them throw grenades like crazy, as well as giving them faster shield recharge rate. It's all in the tag known as matg (Globals). But for advanced stuff, like more stealth, diving, etc., I can't do any of that because of lack of decent modding programs.
