#1 - its called lag. You have a bad connection

#2 - They're good, your not.

Halo's netcode is not the greatest. You have to lead your shots, meaning fire a little in front of your in the direction they are going. If you shoot right at them you will miss. It takes some time to get used to the lag. In that time you will get abused by the more experienced players. Just take your time and watch what they do while they are owning you. You will learn in time.

Don't drink to excess– You might shoot at tax-collectors... and miss

To add to what Igg said, look at some of the videos posted from the regular MAW gathering and you'll see how much you have to lead.

The amount you need to lead will vary depending on your connection speed, the weapon you are using, etc. At the start of each game, your first few shots are tests to see how much to lead.

Lagging can be caused by a server that does not have a high enough speed connection to handle all the players on it, or your connection may be too slow, or someone in the game may have a bad connection. I've heard that taking screen shots in game can cause lag.

That's still lag, which means you have to lead your shots a bit far. I have ping of <120 which is really good, anything less than <80 is great.

I normally get a Ping of around 120, and I still get a bit of lag when firing automatic weapons, mostly the Assault Rifle.
And sometimes, the end of the clip... When theres about 3 bullets left, I can't hear anything.

Slightly off topic, does anyone ever get 'non fired ammo'?

For example, trying to fire a rocket at someone, the guy walks right through it, then after you've fired a second shot, your RL won't reload automatically? And when you manually reload, a rocket appears magically in the clip a second before the reload finishes?

I find that that sort of thing happens more often nowadays, especially with sniper rifles (I try to fire four shots, the server only registers two, then I attempt to click randomly on another guy and he falls over dead without a contrail), and pistol.

yeah my ping is usually around 67 which is pretty good. yeah you need to lead your shots depending on the ping you have. i was confused at first because i thought high ping meant low lag(lol n00b) but also: listen to iggwilv because he is like the almighty god of halo PC i dont know how long hes been on but its longer than me, and ive been here around a year now. also does anybody know if anything has happened to me15er? i havent seen him lately hope it wasnt anything like what happened to iceicebaby (moment of silence) god bless you man

Sometimes in a banshee or tank, if you click the fire button while the gun or FRG is reloading it will not fire, yet you have to wait 4 more seconds for it to reload again.

I've had similar issues happen before. I distinctly remember one time where I was running around on a map with two empty weapons (for at LEAST two minutes), both had plenty of spare ammo but my character couldn't figure out how to reload. That or he simply chose not to.

At any rate, I killed one guy with nades, another with melee (Sneaky!) before I died. On my next life I could reload just fine.

Also, I had tried to swap weapons with something on the ground, but it wouldn't let me do that either until I respawned.

It was annoying.

Thats no where near as annoying as when you goto swap weapons and you somehow lose the ability to use a second weapon...

I've actually figured out what causes this: it's when you hold down [change weapon] (i.e. e or x) when you kill someone when next to them, usually with melee: you pick up a weapon they drop, but it becomes impossible to select it. I've done this too many times at the sniping points of Ice fields (Hmm, sniper. *WHACK*! and grab weapon. Now, to continue firing- hey, wheres my sniper rife? ARGHHHH!)

* 200 ping is high, and you won't be able to get anything done with that lag.

* Please read the sticky threads. There is a thread on Xfire on the front page of the Maw.

* Please work on your grammar.

Halo PC's netcode is laggy, so while I can't help but think that people shouldn't have to lead shots, I don't mind it. I usually get 150-67 ping, depending on what server I play.

Oi...listen, in the game of sniper, you have a little blue (unless you changed that color) circle in the middle of your screen, in the center of that circle there is a dot...that is called an aimer. If you line that up with the person you are trying to kill, and fire, you will miss. Halo online, has a problem, lag, lag casues your shots to be off, so basically put the aimer, infront of the person, if they are not standing still, like basically where they are running. Like your gonna shoot at nothing but by the time the bullet gets as far as the person is, they will connect and you will have hit the opponet. Now in order to get a "perfect head shot" you need to umm... yea aim at their head. Pretty self explanitory.

I get stuff like that on modded servers, mostly.
