I'm starting to understand some of the frustration that the devs / forum ninjas have with some of the forum posters now. It seems like no one bothers to read anything before posting and when a Bungie employee actually speaks it seems that people only selectively read what is said.
Case in point: the current sticky post by Frankie. He states:
We're going to answer any questions you have about the trailer in today's Weekly Update.
So, what are 70-80% of the questions about? Plot points and other unanswerables that they've already said they won't discuss in the FAQ that they so kindly posted.
I assume all of us have read it at least one or twice, but we still have a large number of forum posts on what platform it will be on ("Halo 3 is being made for the Xbox 360."), whether or not the trailer was real-time ("Yes. The trailer shown at E3 in 2006 was rendered in real-time using the in-game engine"), about his different looking gloves ("We haven't revealed that yet . Don't jump to any conclusions."), etc etc.
Q What about the Covenant civil war? Are Elites our friends now?
A That's plot. Unless you see something in a new trailer, or spot a clue, you're not going to get any plot until the game ships. That's how we roll. You'll just have to play and see.
Q Will the Arbiter be back?
A See above.
If most of us make at least a slight attempt to use some common sense, this forum will be a much nicer, cleaner, and more useful place.
