Subject: Primordium Or Glasslands?

Expressing my strong liberal views without shame. Favorite quotes below:

"Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the the universe."
"One starts to live when he can live outside himself."

- Albert Einstein

Glasslands introduced everything and didn't elaborate on anything relevant. The next two books are going to play catch up, which is horrible.

It will not take even a quarter of a book to elaborate slightly on aforementioned elements. Traviss isn't going to make the sequel a fact book (mostly because she likely does not know enough about the Halo Universe to make something like that).

I already know you will not like the sequel, because you have preassigned judgments on it based on some pretty damn minor gripes with the first novel. Infinity seems something intended to be elaborated on later, and Mark VII is not going to take a chapter to elaborate on either.

Also, if I recall correctly, the novel said that Naomi put on a Mk VII helmet, not Mk VII MJOLNIR armor.

@accordingto343

Your one stop shop for all of 343's fabulous errors and ridiculous notions in the Halo lore.

Generalizations. In Halo Reach, there were Brutes that were given basically no protection and sent to fight.

Probably because the Elites hadn't given them a lot to work with, as established by prior canon.

If there were Jiralhanae settlements on Sangheilios, then there would be a big problem, but the fact remains that the Brutes were only working as maintenance on a select Sangheili ships; it does not even imply loyalty.

Except the Elites themselves said they were loyal to the Elites if not afraid of the Brutes. So loyalty out of fear. But apparently they aren't afraid to steal Elite ships from time to time or are trusted enough to not be the first suspects after that one farmer who blew up the Forerunner relic was murdered by 'Telcam's group.

And humanity are the vile ones. Sure.

Have you resorted to jumping to conclusions Cobra? Don't act pathetic, let's have a reasonable conversation. I've seen all the -blam!-ing people have done about Glasslands here, on Waypoint, and on grey's site.

You implied nobody was worrying about Lucy's punch when you were obviously wrong. I'm jumping to conclusions? Yeah...okay.

Okay, so you have never seen a Brute with engineering skills, so clearly none of them have it. I hope you understand that the Jiralhanae did get up to the equivalent of an Industrial civilization on their home planet.

But even this is irrelevant, to some extent. They don't need engineering expertise to be told what to do.

They nuked themselves back to pre-space faring, lost all their knowledge and the Covenant only let them get back to the stars. It's also been said that they had to use Drones on their ships to keep them running. Then there is the whole "Both Elites and Brutes lacked the ability to repair or manage their ships" in The Return.

The concepts that were ignored deserve a far more elaborate explanation that what you are implying they would get.

My feelings on the book are irrelevant all i care about is the information. I have no judgements on the next book because i am honestly not putting that much thought into it, if Karen improves so she does, if not that is more information un-acquired.

The entire armor is mark VII.

Bungie.Match.com: Our Johnson knows what the ladies like.

I just finished Primordium about 5 minutes ago. It was great, incredibly addicting, all the way through. Though, from what I've read of Glasslands... meh. Definitely start with Primordium.

By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.

it is my opinion that she is getting too much heat for it.

As she rightly should.

Frankly, I think Traviss should be paid not to write in established universes. The only one she has done well in is Gears, yet she completely botched Gears 3.

This man, this man right here put it so eloquently that I actually cancelled my own 2000+ word long post.

The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

Why is it an "or" question?

Because I can only afford one of the novels at the moment, not both, sadly. I will eventually get both of them with time, but right now, I'm just trying to make sure I get my hands on one.

I was going to go order Primordium today, but I did not think that postal service would cost me so much, and thus has exceed the money I currently have, so I'll have to wait a little longer than I hoped... I'm only down by a couple of euros, too.

We should know better, because we are better.

Primordium has a much more interesting premise than Glasslands. Glasslands promised to continue the story of the Dyson Sphere but that story failed to live up to my expectations. There was too much focus on Lucy, Halsey, and Mendez and not enough on anyone else.

Don't be stupid like I was! Check to see what that Forum Ninja is saying to you!

Plasma Prestige, you do know what should have been explained right?
[SPOILERS]

Infinity

Spartan IV

What Naomi was doing during the Battle of Earth

Mjolnir MK. VII

Why the Elites generally have a hatred towards Humanity when it was the Brutes
that slaughtered the Elite High Council.

How the planet with Humans and Covenant species alike living on it started.

Not to mention, why does Rtas think that Sanghelios might be in danger at the memorial when they were there for over a month?

This is all stuff other Halo authors would have elaborated upon.

Waypoint Moderators aren't really Moderators, just power hungry and its goal is defend their beloved Halo at all costs. (Meaning that they wank Halo too much.)

BS Angel is alleged foe so, be wary of Waypoint and its moderators! Do not attempt to move to Waypoint. Enter your own risk.

*WARNING* IT IS MY OPINION.

If Glasslands was a standalone novel, there would be a big problem, but it isn't.

Just like how there was confusion on the number of Halo Arrays in the end of Cryptum, there were some unanswered questions in Glasslands.

Granted, there were far more in Glasslands, but unless Traviss fails to elaborate in the next novel too, it is my opinion that she is getting too much heat for it.

You overlooked several major issues in the Glasslands. I can assume that you overlooked on this because you're too attached with Glasslands dearly.

Unlike you, I can find any errors or bad writing style then give out constructive criticism at author.

No, my friend. You are solely mistaken on this matter, she rightfully deserved it because she never bothered to use hard facts from Halo universe. (It's true story, Traviss claimed that she didn't research properly in Halo Universe.)

Also, it's a fault of 343i as well, they obviously did not proof read it and quickly approved it.

And also, for your post against SEAL Sniper; guess what? We can judge the books without reading; it's called reading reviews of the book. If it's bad then it is bad. Just like Glasslands are now. Frankly, he has made a good decision to not get Glasslands.

OP, just get Primordium. Screw Glasslands, you can easily read the summary of glasslands on wikipedia.

No u

While I am still reading Primordium, I think you would find that more appealing

A quick summary of Glasslands will deprive you of experiencing some great characters. Loved all interactions with the Huragok (Lucy's especially).
