Im curios as to wonder why noone has adressed this..... how did the rings get there? as far as my knowledge we didnt have the technology to set rings up in space.... or even build hundreds of mile long structures.... that could support their own environment and contain a set orbit... does anyone have an answer for me?

Heres my theory from The Ark and the Flood, wait this is Halo not the Bible!
I got this from halopedia.org so dont tell me i took it from there or anything, cuz i know i did.

----The name of the Ark refers to the biblical story of the Noah's Ark that was built to save Noah's family and a number of animals from a massive flood, but it's possible that it has a double meaning referencing to the Ark of the Covenant. "the ark saves humanity from the flood" ----

I think that what happened was that the flood were created a long time ago by the forerunners (and this is a theory, the humans are the forerunners) and the flood killed all the humans, while the ark was built to protect a few humans, prolly little kids at the age of 4 or something. Because the 4-year-olds weren't big enought, the flood couldnt kill them and the flood died off. The infants didnt know anything, climbed out of the ark and continued on w/ life from the age of 4.

This is also why MC knows how to activate the energy bridge on "Halo" in Halo CE, and why 343 GS calls MC reclaimer.

I know i may have confused you, but it all makes sense too me. Forerunner is an ancestor, a predecessor.

*Rhetorical Question* Is this a coincedince or did Bungie pull this one on purpose?

I doubt that Halo 3 is based on a storybook.

To all of you ignorant people that come into this forum claiming that the bible is just a storybook, why would you say something like that?
the bible is ridiculously true being confirmed by biblical prophecys before the bible was written, archeological finds, and jewish history books which correlate with the Bible.
also it is not like other religions, other religions are not true. theres no evidence for them

Ur right, im not baggin on any other religions, because a lot of religions relate to christianity, but then there are some that are just bogus.

And if, i said if, the bible was a storybook, it is a pretty dang good storybook. Think about it, how do you write a book that long, that confusing, soooo long ago, soooo many different settings, and yes stories. With no author, other than the ones that wrote all the books of the bible and have them be put together from hundreds of years apart, and still have the book selling millions each year?

Nice studying........thats very interesting.......also just a thought but when cortana talks about being his shield, his sword, and how the world ends that could als be a biblical refrence. like that could be the armor of God and im not sure about the end of the world part but ill look a little harder.
Good Work

PS non religous guy u really should go to a church or something like cortana said the worlds coming to an end.

Because this is an open forum and they have just as much right to call it a storybook as you have a right to claim it to be completely true.
the bible is ridiculously true being confirmed by biblical prophecys before the bible was written, archeological finds, and jewish history books which correlate with the Bible.

If it was "ridiculously true," then there wouldn't be any controversies over it, and you wouldn't need to be defending it....would you?

also it is not like other religions, other religions are not true. theres no evidence for them

That must be all of the open mindedness and compassion that Christianity preaches.

I dont need to defend the Bible, it holds up on its own. But since most of you are either too lazy to find out the truth, i have to point it out for you.
another reason why there is so much controversy, is because even though some my find that it is true, that means they have to change their ways and submit to a higher authority, which, i guess, is just too much for some people.
Im not saying you guys have to believe what i believe.
im just informing you that it is not a storybook, and to say otherwise is speaking out against my religion, but since Christianity is the only religion that is allowed to be persecuted, i guess its okay for you to say that.

He does have a point

anyway, the armor of god theory, not sure if its true tho.

Put on the whole armor of God, so that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For our struggle is not against enemies of blood & flesh, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers of this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God,
so that you may be able to withstand on that evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm. Stand therefore, and fasten the belt of truth around your waist, and put on the breastplate of righteousness. As shoes for your feet put on whatever will make you ready to proclaim the gospel of peace. With all of these, take the shield of faith, with which you will be able to quench all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Pray in the Spirit at all times in every prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert and always persevere in supplication for all the saints. - Ephesians 6:11-18

Belt of Truth - MC's utility belt, truth being correspondence to fact or reality.
Breastplate of Righteousness - MC's Breastplate, always behaving according to a religious or moral code, notice how MC always does his duty
Shoes for the Gospel - MC's boots of course, a set of beliefs held strongly by a group or person, MC believes the covenant need to be stopped pretty much.
The Shield of Faith - I beleive this could be cortana, as she says she is his shield, belief in, devotion to, or trust in somebody or something, especially without logical proof.
Helmet of Salvation - actually, i think this could be cortana too, u know, inside his head, the saving of somebody or something from harm, destruction, difficulty, or failure
Sword of The Spirit - This is a tough one, it could symbolize his weapon or, as cortana says she is his sword, a vital force that characterizes a living being as being alive

And im not saying that this is true either, just another theory.

Awsome, i was just thinking about the same thing and i was on my way to post something about this but you beat me to it, oh well. The only thing that i was going to mention that you didn't was something relating to the trumpets. In the bible it says when Jesus returns there will be a great trumpet sound that will be heard throughout the land. This goes perfectly with the trailer cause cortona's last words in the trailer are "This is the way the world ends". Halo 3 obviously takes place far in the future, a possible time for the return of Jesus to take place. Not saying that Jesus in Halo 3 im just saying that mabey the trailer is accually the end of the game, mabey the chief couldn't stop the covanant and they reached the ark provoking the return of Jesus and thus bring on the end of the world.

I love this thread, mostly because I love connecting religious beliefs with scientific facts. In my opinion, God wants us to connect science with religion.

Now, I have been reading everything that everyone has been saying (while ignoring all of the unnescessary christian/muslim/jew VS. secular battles) and I see one flaw - If the forerunners that were on the ark/earth were the only beings in the galaxy to survive the blast from the halos, where the hell did the Covenant come from? I mean, one could argue that the Covenant races evolved from scratch after the blast, and began studying/worshiping the forerunner artifacts which eventually became their gods, but to me it doesn't make sense to me (especially since the Covenant are a bit more advanced than us).

Does anyone see where I'm coming from?

It seems a lot of people think I am a Christianity hater.
Lemme clarify something: I most definitely am not a hater of anything. Atheism is not some evil word. It is just what I believe.
Hell, my best friend is Christian. MY BEST DAMN FRIEND. Obviously I am not a Christian hater, nor do I "hate" what anyone believes in. I even have many other friends that are Jewish and Christian, and some atheist ones as well.
I called it a storybook because that's what it is: a book filled with stories written by some talented story-tellers. The bible was not meant to be taken literally. It is a collaboration of stories and MORAL LESSONS (like "don't cheat on your wife," "don't murder", etc.). For that, I respect the Bible. However, I do not respect the idea that so many people believe that it is "real" and that some fake -blam!- named "the devil" will hurt us if we make mistakes. When I called it a storybook, I meant no offense to it; I merely called it a collection of stories. It's not like I called it a "lousy piece o' crap" or anything like that.

If there were one religion that made the most sense to me, it would be buddhism. There is no belief in "god" or "devil" or anything like that in buddhism.

Maybe I was getting defensive earlier when I denied the fact that Halo 3 bears resemblances to the Bible; it is sorta similar to the Bible. But not by much. You all remember when Cortana/Gravemind said "I have defied Gods and demons." If this were based on the Bible, then Cortana would not have said anything like that (you'd have a bunch of odd people saying "OMG BLASPHEMY!!!").

My final standpoint: I'll respect Christianty if you'll respect the fact that the Bible is a lesson-teaching book of stories (good stories). I ask that no one take any offense to me calling it a storybook. That is what it is. Also, please understand that I am an atheist because of the Catholic School I went to (there were lots of extremists there, so I changed my beliefs to a more scientific approach to the Big Bang). Keep in mind--I don't hate any of you. I don't dislike any of you (although some of you dislike me). I know I said I wouldn't post here anymore...but after I saw that the arguing was still going on, I decided to write this, hoping to save the thread from being locked.

Sry bout that, its just when christians hear the bible being called a storybook, most of the time they think that they are calling it just a bunch of useless stories. way to clear things up by the way. I'll respect the fact of what you believe, im not gonna try and push you or anygthing.

I have read you guys' theories, and I must say, some might have some validity with the Halo story...

I also would like to say that I am not a "bible thumping" whatever else you want to call me religious fanatic. I simply noticed that there are several similarities between the Bible and the Halo plotline.

I also need to say that I am very disappointed that so many of you would be so closed minded as to come in here and flame to the degree that you have. If you do not like what is being said or simply do not agree with it, there are ways of expressing that disagreement without "flaming" everyone and pissing them all off. If you don't care about the plotline and/or Biblical references and similarities, then why are you here? Don't fill up my thread with meaningless flaming and garbage. Please.

Now, on to a theory of my own...
I have also noticed a possible parallel with Halo and The Matrix. In the last two Matrix movies, the plot makes mention of Neo being there to restart the human population because every so many years, the machine and human populations (mainly the city of Zion, and, as I recall, the creator said that there have been something like nine Zion's) wipe each other out and the populations are restarted. Perhaps Master Chief is Neo and the flood are the machines. (where that leaves the covenant I don't know) Master Chief is supposed to activate the Ark and wipe out all of the universe so that it may be saved from the flood (again, though only for the second time) and then the remaining human and covenant populations on earth will be responsible for building back the universe's population (not that I am suggesting cross-species breeding of course).

I would also like to note that the theory that MC and a prophet both try and get to the Ark (using that in comparison to the Ark of the covenant, that you may be struck down if you do something wrong) and only one will survive actually sounds probable, though I would like to see some sort of proof.

Theory on Cortana’s words (taken from earlier in the thread):
Sword - Arc of the Covenants (Halos)
Shield - Arc (on Earth)
*ahem* that sounds pretty good to me ^

To finish off my long post, I would like to ask a question, and hopefully someone may know the answer.

In the Bible, it mentions something in Revelation that had something to do with two prophets dying. I think that this may be distinctly related to the two prophets of the covenant dying, and I would like to know if anyone could research that and come up with an answer?

Again those who are defiling Christianity or the Bible , I challenge you to read any of CS LEWIS writings. He was a brilliant man who was anti-God for many years, taught it at the best univresities until he actually studyed the bible and found it trutths overwhelming, 'Mere Christianity' is a book that expalins his findings and is a good read. Another good read is 'evidence that demands a verdict' another anti God author who tried to prove the bible wrong and a bunch of stories as well until his fact findings pointed to the truth of the word of God. its a pretty heady book but worth the read . The Bible really needs no defending as no one over the centuries has been able to discredit it, and believe me many have tried. It has stood the test of time and if you read a portion of the prophesies made thousands of years before they came to pass exactly as said - you would be in awe. Well enough of that. thank you all for your humble opinions, it stirs me on to know what I believe and why.
