Aside from the fact, The Bible is a book that has been backed up by historical fact throughout several of its' books. Many of the major battles for Israel, the Egyptian slavery, The Gospels, and The New Testament (aside from the Prophecy of the Book of Revelation, because the end of the world has not happened yet) have been recorded through alternative sources from scholars to the converts to Christianity. A very large majority of it is historically factual.
Aside from that, I feel that Halo 3 will represent what happens in the Book of Revelation.
Think about it. In Revelation, Jesus is said to come down from Heaven in the exact place where he left. The Master Chief is landing in New Mombasa once more, where he also left Earth from.
The end of the world involves the appearance of the devil and the anti-Christ to enslave the world. A highly probable link would be to The Prophet of Truth and Gravemind.
The four horsemen of the Apocalypse - Brutes, Drones, Jackals, Prophets.
The seven seals and trumpets - The Six remaining Halos and the Ark or Seven Armies of the Flood?
I wonder what the Arbiter could represent though. Is it possible that he could be linked to the parable of the Lost Sheep?
In the end, I think that if it follows this structure, the Master Chief will not die but instead be in charge of a Human/Elite/Grunt/Hunter kinship while the Brutes/Drones/Jackals/Prophets are all hunted down and exterminated.
