There really shouldn't be a new console for many years to come. So far the current consoles have exceeding most developers needs as far as performance goes.
Say that to the constant screen tearing, frame dips, texture pop ups, multiple discs etc etc that occurs regularly with new release games.
The consoles have reached their expiry date. It's painfully obvious.
I haven't really been keeping up with new releases. What games does this happen in? And keep in mind that those might not be the xBox's fault.
Battlefield 3
Assassin's Creed Revelations
Halo CEA
Batman: Arkham City
Gears of War
Crysis 2 (Pop up was a problem, IMO)
MW3 (Surprisingly frame rate can get really really choppy)
That's all I can think of at the moment. Probably more. I won't go into the whole multiple discs problem as that's obvious.
Ah, oh well. I haven't played any of those games so I can't pass any judgement. Multiple discs is just a memory thing and doesn't really warrant an entire new console. If the console is having trouble displaying the screen without lag then I guess a new console wouldn't hurt.
I'm really basing my opinion off a Bungie interview from like 2010 where they said there was a lot of untapped potential in the xbox. Since then I've really fallen off the game bandwagon.
