Who the hell do you think I am?

I realize that only a few symbols are aloud on bnet, but how come whenever I just copy something like a youtube comment, it says that there are extended characters, even though it's just plain letters?

Sometimes I'll copy something and it won't let me post it because of the extended characters, but I don't usually see anything that wouldn't be aloud.

I don't know a whole lot about computers and computer lingo, but I think it's because the characters that you copy say that they're something like 1001010111010110101 (this isn't what the computer actually says, it's just an example of what I'm trying to explain) and a similar character on Bungie.net is actually 1001111011101011101.

This may or may not be correct, but I'm pretty sure it's something like this. Did I make any sense?

Use this or if you use Google chrome paste it as plain text.

I always select, paste it as plain text, but it still doesn't work.

It could be that way, but I don't know.

All I can tell you for sure, is that Bungie.net doesn't allow extended characters because of longer load times and such.

Not to mention some of the other advanced and even simple mathematical symbols.

I remember the days of Bungie.net when you could use upside down text. That was quite fun. But I can see why they don't allow it anymore.

"It's not who I am underneath, but what I do that defines me."

Any kind of punctuation (, . - _ ' " etc.) when copying text usually produces this error.

While it's true that "extended characters" use more bytes (at least in UTF8 encoding), for all intents and purposes on The Internet, to say that they're restricted because of longer load times is absolutely ridiculous.

The reason they're restricted is because people would do stupid things like using zalgo text, which screws up the formatting on the page. There are posts which still exist on Bungie.net where people have done things like that in the past. Search for a while and you'll find them.

Funny, because I thought the load time was the primary reason and the "stupid things" might or might not of been a part of it, which is why I said "and such".

I guess it goes to show how little I know about computers.

When copying, the punctuation is usually the problem. Should have made that more clear.
