Subject: This forum needs more Civil Discourse

>Moderator discretion is key

>"Ways it could be implemented: deletion of spam/personal attack posts which LACK valid arguments"

That would mean that if he calls you an idiot, yet backs it up he is in the clear.
If said person goes all attack and no back-up, then he is in danger of getting his posts reviewed/taken down.
It's during this review that a mod could dole out a warning "yellow card" or something, or take more serious action should it be situationally necessary.

It's up to the community. I'm ambivalent about more moderation but if it's required to clean up the forums then oh well. So long as it doesn't become Waypoint.

Do you really have nothing better to do than to go around trolling these forums?

Perhaps it's better that way.

It's "better" to refer to something when no one else knows what you're talking about? I don't get it...

My thread got derailed.

It was so subtle that I never noticed it till now. Congratulations.

Cool. Also a good read. Glad something useful came out of that mess.

Very well said. I miss Optimatch..

Optimatch merely discussed playlist specifics, so its scope was extraordinarily limited.

While this is true, it was by FAR the most mature forum to post in. Very very few trolls and super opinionated users.

I miss it. Waypoint discussion isn't the same.

Problem is that the mods are inconsistent, at least on Waypoint the rules are known and enforced in the same manner for all.

Guess the difference is that Waypoint has some serious money behind it, whilst this site is manned by volunteers.

I would post some examples, but ironically that will get me banned.

To break the discourse in this thread down to a dichotomy is a wholesale inaccurate representation of the posts entered into this forum. While the conversations are not as refined as you might wish them to be you will find that people on this forum get on different sides of issues for a variety of reasons. To try to pigeonhole groups and define them you are actually watering down the discourse in this forum and trying to push the frame of thought into a dichotomy of views. Giving people a parameter of two sides that they must choose to view their thoughts from creates a disconnect from thinking of a variety of answers to complex issues.

stat card is relevant, bad players can't comment on how x element is/isn't a problem if they are too bad to play with people who will abuse it

And all coaches are former pros.

Yes coachs are smart and know what they are talking about. However this is a video game, you don't need to be a great athlete to be good at halo all you need is 4 fingers and a thumb on each hand.
