lol you havn't seen girls playing halo right?

I've seen them, I don't make a big deal out of it, though sometimes *they* do. One time this girl completely owned us all in slayer, but afterward she screamed at us how we had been beaten by a girl. All I could do was laugh at her and tell her that she was being a real credit to her gender right there. Way to end stereotypes!

No...Gravemind, he was in the system of High Charity, searching for information, when he came along Cortana in the mainframe, he saw her wealth of knowledge, and began trying to take control of her.

He controlled Pentient Tangent, that could lend enough technological know how to hack into the already blown open Covenant mainframe.

What I find interesting is that she quotes the bible. "I am your shield, Iam your sword." If this voice reflects her true thoughts, uncorrupted by Gravemind, it could mean that she has taken another step closer to rampancy. Remember that she has watched over the Chief, over humanity. She has been the central coordinator of humanity's defense during Halo CE and throughout Halo 2. Taking this fact into acccount as well as the fact that an AI can live forever, and obtain infinite knowledge, perhaps she sees herself as God, or some kind of God. I know this contradicts her statement, "I have defied Gods and Demons." So, even worse, it could also mean that she is superior to God.

However, if Gravemind is using Cortana as a puppet to relay his messages to the chief it could mean that Gravemind is above God. A symbol of Satan.

Relating this to biblical terms, perhaps Cortana and Gravemind are symbols of God and Satan. Cortana trying to save humanity, and Gravemind trying to corrupt and destroy it. This thought is the most interesting to ponder.

However, even if you don't believe my theory, you must at least concede the fact that Cortana has changed dramatically since Halo 2.

You do realize that this is dependent on the Gravemind being evil? Yeah, I know, he controls the flood, so of course he's evil. Maybe he's not evil, just pursuing his own agenda. Remember, we still don't know the details of the Forerunners, we don't know how the flood cam about, we don't know how they survived one hundred thousand years of starvation, and we don't know exactly what relation the gravemind truly has to everyone. He strikes me as being to coniving and old to simply wamt to kill everyone with his creatures. I think that until we get more answers about the gravemind, questioning his effect, or damage, of Cortana is pointless and irrelevant.

As for those who say that he has taken over her, I don't think that would fit well in the story. Cortana has a unique personality, something thatBungie probably won't want to destroy y having the gravemind take over her. Will she be affected? of course. But it won't be ebcause he hacked into her to changed her programing. It will be because of what she learns, and what she figures out.

I dont think that he is evil as much as trying to preserve his Flood forces and letting his species prosper. Cortana could still have her unique personality, she could fight Gravemind's influence in the game to become your ally again. I dont see what she could learn that would make her want to join Gravemind.

i don't think he controlled Penitent Tangent, he just captured him. remember that he forced PT to talk by shaking it, not hacking into it. There is no evidence that he can hack an AI.

True, Although he did Hack into the teleportation grid on Halo. However this could also be explained by Gravemind's coersion of PT.

During the cutscene where you first meet Gravemind, he has control or at least, he has captured Pentient Tangent and the Prophet of Regret.
