Subject: A "Spoiler" Text format.

Say your talking about a movie or part in a game that has spoilers. Besides just adding *spoilers in the title I think it would be cool to add something that you can click to reveal the spoiler.

I picture it being sort of like the reported bar. But in the middle of your post.

Thoughts?

As long as you can't put a spoiler within a spoiler or post a large amount of spoilers, I don't see how it can go wrong... yet.

The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

Spoiler forum, anyone?

I think there's BB tags for it already. You have to quote the post to see it.

There will always be the private group system.

This, groups, or just don't talk about spoilers because you'll get banned/locked/warned.

Who the hell do you think I am?

I've been asking for something like this for a while.

I think it's a terrific idea.

Actually, spoilers are only against the rules if you don't warn that there are going to be spoilers in your post.

I want a sarcasm font first, but it would be cool nonetheless.

I feel like italics fits the bill there.

Hello, I'm Mr AwesomePizza. I like pizza and I'm a man. Reasoning for the name. I like to listen to the classics of music, write poetry, play video games, and much much more. I'm always down for a nice chat, so please hit me up for some conversation.

343's website has that feature and it is awesome. It helps a lot and it works better then our current system.

Bip Bap Bam in the brainpan!

And BOLD LETTERS LIKE THIS ARE AWESOME.

But Lobsters right. Seeing words in Italics is pretty much like hearing a sarcastic phrase.

Think you can take me in NHL12? Send me a message/invite

NO GROUP INVITES

Jesus took 3 days to respawn, talk about lag.

I think its rather redundant to be honest. If spoilers are properly labeled by the user (as in bold/italics/underlined), then the person idiotic enough not to notice them deserves to have whatever it is spoiled for them.

If they arent labeled, then whats the difference between that and someone not using the new spoiler tags if they get put in?

Why are you reading my signature? Who actually opens these things and reads them!

And as always, SEND ME A PM. Please. Or really bad things will happen to you.

[spoilers][/spoilers]

EDIT: Silly me. I goofed.

EDIT 2: I guess my example is more of a work-around than an officially supported way of handling spoilers though.

The spoiler tags are cool, look cool and make a user feel cool for using them. So I predict it would actually increase the chances of users actually properly marking spoilers.

Users would know to properly mark spoilers if they had read the rules. Not having knowledge of a rule is no excuse to break it.

Some forums have a feature which puts spoilers in black text with a black background, so you have to highlight it to read it.

But isn't it the website's fault for not encouraging users to follow the rules when they can? I mean, it wouldn't hurt (as far as I could see, if they limit it like how I said) and having the feature will help, so why not?
