Subject: What Do You Use: CRT, LCD, or LED TV? Make, Model? Input Response?

Trying hard or hardly trying?

GT: oxI Sonic Ixo

T4R.

I swear I feel like everyone has the response of a CRT in the highly competitive matches I play. Ever since I decided to trade out the old low definition instant response tube for an HD LCD, I feel like I cant play at full potential despite being able to actually see everything now. Has anyone else become as crippled by input lag as me or is everyone who seriously plays still have a tube or an expensive gaming monitor?

Edit: I appreciate all the advice guys, thank you so much.

I'm on an 18.5 inch Sanyo LCD and I don't notice any significant input lag. I imagine larger TVs would have more exaggerated lag. I can't play on my 60 inch despite it being HD

Oh yeah, since somebody does not believe what YOU believe; that makes us vapid...
I cannot grasp that what you call "Something happened to nothing, and that nothing became something, and it was smaller than than a period."

I have an HDTV, I think it's a Sony Bravia, and I'm happy just to have it, so all those other words are confusing.

I do admit I need a smaller set, I am currently using a 32 inch. Due to financial constraints, I had to spend money on an all around TV rather than something specialized. I have been searching for a monitor with the response of a tube tv but I think I may have to eventually settle for something a tad slower. That's the price of HD i guess.

They used to make HD tubes, you may be able to find a used one but they are prob still going to be expensive.

I use a 23 inch LCD monitor.

My Bravia has terrible "smart contrast". The backlights are constantly dimming and brightening and I could never figure out how to disable it.

I wish I could have one, I know shipping prices would be huge but still. I wish companies would go back to improving and selling the CRT TV.

Waypoint isn't pro-anything so much as they're just anti-intelligence.

I don't know it's my dad's tv

Name's John. I'm a 21-year-old firefighter/EMT from lolhio who doubles as a die-hard Halo fan. I've been enjoying the franchise since 2001. My favorite iteration of Halo would have to be Halo 2 simply because I never got to experience the joy of a full-on Halo: CE LAN.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

Oh yeah, and boot Zome.

Asus VH236H LCD monitor. Pretty much no input lag.

Still trying to figure out what settings to use. Object outlining is pretty distorted, especially at distances. No sharpness changing seems to help.

CRT. I don't know the model. It works okay. It also has component input so the picture is clearer than standard cables.

Well I will just go off from what you said earlier that's its great for reach. I wish I couldn't detect input lag, I know part of it is psychological lol. It just frustrates the hell out of me when I lose a DMR duel that I should have won with a better response time set.

I use to do that as well on my old flat screen Sanyo 26 inch, despite 480p being its height of definition I miss it for gaming.

Haha, thats one of the reasons I got rid of my tube. It would be nice to have an HDCRT but ti being a bigger size might not help me with having to dart my eyes all over the screen.

  • 01.09.2012 3:54 PM PDT

I'd be playing on a CRT if all of mine weren't so dark. And if they made them anymore.

It's the best option. Check a used PC store and check out the brightness on the monitor before you pick it up (and you will need help picking it up IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN.)

I have noticed the same problem for my LCD TV. Though, the graphics are amazing, crystal clear, the lag is very noticeable, especially, when one is using the Sniper, Pistol, or DMR.
