Subject: What Do You Use: CRT, LCD, or LED TV? Make, Model? Input Response?

I play on the ASUS that MLG uses. It's a good montior. Cheap too.

Delusions and Grandeur.

It's a Toshiba, and I have no idea about anything else, lol. 27 inches, I'm guessing?

EDIT: The TV is as old as me, at least, and I can say that for sure. To confirm it's 27 inches. There's definitely audio lag, and it's noticeable. Gameplay lag, however, is non-existent, for the most part.

Samsung Syncmaster P2250 with Turtle Beech X41s

No input lag and no audio lag either.

Forget it man, and get with the countdown. Shake this square world and blast off for Kicksville.

For anyone using an HDTV and experiencing lag, it's worth checking if your TV has a game mode (usually it's called this, anyway). Most TVs do, and it essentially switches off a large amount of signal processing to reduce lag.

I see some good tv/monitor choices in here, thanks guys. It will be useful when I get some more cash.

Good advice and I wish I had this setting.

9/14/10 The fall of reach

Emerson 13' that I've had for like 5-7 years. I think it's a CRT/'tube tv'. It's pretty hard to see gamertag from a distance, but the input response is pretty much perfect. Thanks to Bungie engineering a standard aspect ratio for their games, the game actually fills most of the screen, otherwise I have to set the ratio to widescreen even though it's a 4:3.

I would love to play it in HD, but not even if there's a tiny bit of input lag. It's so damn irritating for me. Image below.

i used to use a CRT TV, but my family upgraded and now im using a Samsung 46inch 3d led TV. 240hz refresh. i use HDMI, with gaming mode on.(without gaming mode it gets u really dizzy) I have to say, its beautiful. the picture quality is just amazing. i occasionally use a CRT TV ad its definitely an adjustment. as for lag, i haven't experienced any yet.

Any modern PC monitor from a name brand is going to be fine. Hell, I never even had detectable lag or ghosting on an ancient 15" Samsung LCD that was rated at 24ms, and I played Counter-Strike Source pretty intensively on it.

22" Vizio. Great when only one person playing, gets a little bit small for 2 or more players.

Any modern PC monitor

I have around an 18-20' Acer monitor, but the problem is finding an affordable VGA-whatever for my Xbox.

Agreed. All the changes are good and add variety. Do we really want another Halo 3? Just running around with one gun and no armor abilities? It's good that 343 wants to try something new. Do we really want the same thing for three more games?

You're using the wrong model. It may be because those people do have super fast response times. An LED monitor that's meant for gaming usually has a 5 ms response time.

I just replaced my 10 year old CRT with a 24" LED, and it works great. It cost $200.

For what it's worth, don't skimp on the VGA cable. I tried a cheap non-genuine cable once and got chronic image doubling.

Basic rule of thumb: spend good money on analogue cables, buy the cheapest digital cables you can find. Never ever ever buy an HDMI cable from a retail store. Biggest rip-off known to mankind (Monster-branded cables are an extreme offender).

Well damn, thats good to know.

"PC monitor" is the key term. The vast majority have effectively no signal processing, just basic brightness/contrast/saturation/colour controls. Generally speaking, HDTVs lag not because of the size but because of the amount of signal processing (sharpening, noise reduction, dynamic contrast, etc) that goes on. It takes time to perform complex math on an image, and when that image is 1080p @ 60hz (for example), the time adds up.

Very true which is why my gaming set will be a monitor. Thanks for your knowledge in this thread good sir.

WAAAAAAAAAAH! Its my TVs fault that I lose DMR battles. WAAAAAAAAAH! Response times.

Get over it.

And people accuse me of being a jerk.

Latency matters. Go ask a pro who plays a competitive FPS that actually requires fast reactions.

Is TC a pro? Has he ever placed well at an event? Didnt think so.

You could probably play on a black-and-white TV too. Doesn't mean it wouldn't be annoying.

Noticeable latency is zero fun, if nothing else.

Be sure to tell everyone how cool you are. If you don't tell them, they won't know.

Oh man, I have a 32 in. HD at school, and the input lag is awful. It looks so crisp, but dear sweet balls, I can't shoot anything at all. I can really only play on older TVs, or else I do awful.

So just get on with it. My connection has been abysmal these last few days but you dont see me coming on here and crying about it. I just deal with it.

You are retarded.

Dont worry, I understand.

You must be -blam!- with me. How big of a stick do you have to have embedded up your ass to sit around getting mad at people who want their gear to work properly?

You've decided you can live with your connection, as opposed to investigating other options or trying to troubleshoot it. Cool. That's fine for you. It doesn't make you superior in any way.

Hell, by your retarded metric, if my controller broke I should just stop complaining and live with it, right? My car doesn't need its turbocharger to work, but I can guarantee you if I got a puncture in my charge piping I'd get it fixed, because I like it to work better as opposed to worse.

OP comes on and asks people what display device they're using because he's dissatisfied with his. This apparently makes you very mad. Ergo, you are retarded.
