Earth being destroyed means that we basically lost the war, not that we are extinct. Like has been mentioned before all the Covenant headed straight for Earth, the means other places even in our own solar system like Mars, and the Jupiter moon colonies haven't been touched. Also Earth could also not even be touched, those ruins could be from the Covenant previous invasion with Regret, and the rest of the planet could be in perfect working order. Chances are Earth is destroyed though since Bungie already said that the Covenant have had control of the planet since the end of Halo 2.

No way they killed all the humans because, if you read the books you know that there are secret colonies and I think it said there were even small civilizations on large astroids. I even doubt they killed all the humans on earth.

Defences...That doesn't mean all the humans are dead. It would take forever for them to kill us all. We are probably hinding in underground cellars and inside buildings.

the covenant have alot more men than us so i dought that it would be that impossible

  • 05.12.2006 11:33 PM PDT

nothing left to do but to finish the fight

Earth is a dead planet all its defences have been destroyed, and yes that means all of the orbital Super MAC guns and a large portion of the fleet (some ships may have slipped away at the end of the battle)
There will be very few humans left on earth if anything it will be just the spartan team. the covenant ships use crossing orbits to glass every part of the planet except for on reach where they excavated they left unglassed this is likely to have happened to Earth. although they may have done a Sigma Octanis on it and simply invaded allthough on that planet they were just visiting the museum.
there wil still be loads of humans left as the covenant have had abit of a mad rush on human strongpoints such as Reach and Earth and they have bypassed other colonies infact theres nothing to say that they even know about those colonies.

If you think about it, in the FAQ They said that these events take place (halo 3 Tralier) shorlty after the evnets in halo 2.

so they would have time 2 glass the planet + dealing with a civil war

and UNSC command will be intact (or else it would ruin the game 2 have nothing left)

Wow you are quick to jump to conclusions.

Think of earth and their colonies as an atom, where earth is in the center (neucleus), and is surrounded by other colonised planets. The covenant have gone in through one side, and have reached earth, the center, which leaves a bit less then half the planets untouched, give or take. MC is FAR from the last human left.

No, my slow little friend, you just jumped to a huge asumption.

If you didn't see, I said ACCORDING TO THE BOOKS. In the books, all the human colonies are gone, all thats left is Earth.

If you don't know, don't talk, please.

Guys read the books and do campaign

The humans joined the elites and hunters
There are still humans left, not counting the rebellion colonies either.
Earth was probably evacuated too.
And yes the book said all the outer and most of the inner colonies were destroyed.

He's right, if you payed any attention whatsoever, you noticed that the Arbiter, Johnson, and Miranda all worked together and Johnson helped the Elites

Since the Covies haven't glassed Earth yet I think it's safe to assume we have a healthy population still. Plus there's every other human colony that wasn't attacked on the way to Earth. We also know Miranda and Johnson are alive and hanging with the Arbiter and Spec Ops Leader.

Is Earth actually the last human planet? I was under the impression that the covenant skipped some of the inner colonies in order to get to Earth.

The inner colonies are still intact yes...

And although Earth has been conquored... I do not believe every human on her is nbececerily under control or dead
