no, that is at least partly inncorrect, because remember that while the MC and truth are headed to earth, you switch to the arbiter's point of veiw, and join with Sargent Johnson to defeat tartarus. WHILE HE IS STILL ON DELTA HALO.
Posted by: sb85
two of the prophets are dead. i think truth is the last one remaining, and he was on the forerunner ship with tartarus on his way to earth. the trailer says nothing of what happened after they reached earth, but sometime (1/3rd) into the game. so yeah, it could still be the brutes and jackals n grunts taking over...the elites however might not have recieved confirmation from the arbiter that the sides have changed....

Regardless of why Regret left Earth his fleet WAS defeated. He brought 15 capital ships to Earth not expecting to encounter Human forces because he wasn't looking for Humans, but was looking for Delta Halo's coordinates. Earth is defended by 300 SuperMAC battle stations (minus two due to covie bombs) plus a respectable UNSC flotilla. If you've read the books it is apparent that a covenant force of this size would not last long against Earth's defenses.

The battle that is seen at the end of H2 is obviously a second, larger attack on the planet.

I believe that the time warping crystal that the Prophet had (you pretty much were effected by it too since you were in slipspace with him), made the events that happened on Delta Halo only last a day or so..and the time back and forth wasn't long either since the crystal speeds up slipspace travel like 90x

...So I'm guessing that when you return it's as if you never left Earth, only came out of the atmosphere, went to the closest planet in our Solar system, boarded a new strange ship and then came back.

This is why the Admiral is so suprised to see you virtually right after it seemed like you left New Mombasa.

There are more than 3 prophets. The three in Halo are the High Prophets, while there are some that are more of "demi"prophets. they all have one of their own "emotiion" names too, like regret, and truth

The prophets probably did have a small fragment of the cystal from Halo: First Strike, and i think they brought it back to high Chality. it is possible that the two fleets left on different days but ended up at Earth what it seems like a few hours becasue the cystals can make a person go back in time but they would have to be going to speed of light. the cystal made the ships in slipspace go faster than the speed of light.

It's completely laughable that a fleet five times smaller then the one at reach destroyed the earth. They weren't even prepared to fight, they were a mining expedition with some military support. They didn't even know they were going to our homebase.

It's obvious that a second worldwide assualt was coordinated to allow Truth to get the Ark and these would be primarily made of of Loyalist forces who actually want Truth to get activate the "Great Journey". Any quotes that prove otherwise are just production discrepencies. Yes, even bungie can make mistakes.

The Covenent Fleet that attacked Earth was a mining fleet becasue the Scarab was orgiionally designed to mine large areas with its massive frontale plasma cannon and all of the litlier guns on it. plus it is way easy to get inside of it if there are no covenent elites, grunts, etc.

There were more than one prophet cus ins't the 'Higher Counsil" made up of prophets? Though the 'Higher Counsil' was murdered by the Brutes, point being, there were more than 3 Prophets. AND: Did any one consider that there could be more Covenant at the other rings, there are still 5 unexplored rings...

The Covenent are at the other rings because, either at the beginning or end of halo 2, there is a map of the 7 rings at high charlity and shows orien's belt in the center, where Earth is, indicating that Earth is the Ark

There were 15 capital ships that attacked Earth, and around 500ish that attacked REACH(?)...After H:CE Cortana found out that Covie ships can jump into and out of a planet's atmosphere, and then the Covies learn of this from a Covenant AI onboard their capital ship..

So, I'm guessing that the ships try to stall the humans' MAC cannons, while Truth jumps into the atmosphere to try and find the artifact..he thinks all is going to hell and jumps out of system with the crystal in hand making him go 90x as fast...

You go too, to Delta Halo and do a few missions, then goto High Charity, all the while the crystal is affecting you making the 'real world' slow down.

So on the chief's return in the Forerunner ship it seems like he has only been gone for hours to a day, which is why the Admiral is so suprised to see you after he just saw you jump out of system.

So the ships you see fighting at the end are the ones stalling the MAC cannons, jumping back and forth out of and into effective range of fire toying with us while the Forerunner ship (most likely something important to using the Ark of the Covenant, along with the crystal)

Once they see the Prophet return with both keys, they ALL jump into our atmosphere and begin digging...this is when the trailer takes place..

In the bonus edition of Halo 2, there was a video showing artwork and stuff. It showed atleast 1 more race of aliens that were a part of the Covenant, and if i remember correctly they said something about getting them into the game. Also why couldnt this trailer be Cortana showing Master Chief the future, 3/4 through the game. Dont dismiss the possability that though the trailer is seen 3/4 through the game it might reflect a different place in time. It is possible that at the end of Halo 3 Master Chief has to battle his was to the Ark Control Center or w/e and that, that clip we say had more 2 it that was not displayed. Such as it activation for instance if he were to fail.

BTW. im not a new member, just lost my old account. my old name was Archos

I aggree. When i first saw the Halo 3 trailer, the MC was coming from the road in the background and just walking through a crashed ship. He did not come out of it. I saw the MC way in the distance (becasue i looked extremely carefully) and was following a road.

This theory is pretty stupid. It's the Brutes and you know it.

If it was the brutes there wouldn't be banchess now where in H2 did you see a brute flying a Banchess

People, People for those who say that a small force attacked Earth (after Regret's) look in First Strike. It says there was a fleet of at least 400 ships gaurding High Charity at any time. I doubt this entire fleet was decimated in itself in the civil war. Thats what would make Cortana say something like "If Truth leads that fleet to Earth they wont stand a chance" and she does say that. Obviously she knows what she's talking about! Plus around 317 ships took over Reach. It wouldn't be hard for 400 ships to get inside the Earths atmosphere and take out the MAC generators. It only took the Covies around 2 hours to do it on Reach. So yes its very easy to see Earth being conquered. Also in my personal opinion whether or not the Elites at Earth are still with the brute/Truth I dont care, I wanna kill em all in Halo 3!

How about the entire level where you have to escort Johnson while he drives the Scarab and you have to fight all of the Brutes flying the all of the Banshees.

  • 05.17.2006 1:24 PM PDT

what about that level?

(in a side note that level is The Great Journey and its hard as hell on Legendary!)

Well There isnt complete proof that the covenant own Earth... They might as of now BUT a few MAC rounds can take care of them..... OR a few hundered TAC NUKES....(hehehe)! OR possibly Thousands of Company's of Helljumpers and Marines (that'd be a sight having millions of HEV Pods flyin down at the same time). OR the simple answer send in the Master Chief so he can kill every last one of the Covenant B*$**rd$. Or maybe you are right... and we have an allience with the Elites.... Either way I'll still kill every last one of those Elites.

Spartans Rule!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Spartans Drink Coke!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Humans Rule!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Master Griem, there are more then three prophets, although those three were the 'leaders' of all the Covenant. (See Conversations from the Universe for more info).

Please give me a link to where it says Regret's forces were wiped out... wait... there is no where.

Also, no where does it say the trailer takes place 3/4 into teh game. For all we know this could be Cortana showing MC the future of the Earth if he was to fail.

Bungie told press in a conference after the trailer that it was 3/4 through the game. We know Regret's fleet was wiped out becuase his was the only ship that made it to New Mombasa, and he wanted out, because he was calling for help.

1/3rd!!!!! get it right

  • 05.17.2006 1:46 PM PDT

god people how hard is it to get a simple fraction right? if you're not sure you could at least say "I'm not sure on that" but no some of you right out blatently flame other people for saying things when they are right and you keep alluding to that damn 3/4 its 1/3 end of discussion!!!!

It makes sense that the fleet there contains elites, however not for your reasoning [or at least the way you described it].

The Arbiter makes contact with the Sargeant and Johnson at the very end of the game. The fleet at High Charity is attacking the Brutes, however not enough time has passed to allow a slipspace message to make contact with the fleet at earth. That means the Covenant there have no idea of Truth's intentions. So...it can be concluded that most likely, if the "Good" Covenant at High Charity survive, the Arbiter will take his forces to Earth and attempt to cause a Civil War again there. However, some may not believe him has he disgraced his world and is ment to be dead.

We will have to wait and see...
