Why did the Covenant even bother to fight the humans? Why not just glass the planet.

You may say that they didn't want to kill the arc. Well if that is the arc in New Mobassa, why not do what they did on Reach. On Reach they wanted the ONI base, they completely decimated the rest of the planet by glassing it, and rushed the ONI base with troops.

Why not just glass all of Earth, and storm the New Mombassa/The Arc?

they oviously didnt want to harm the "thing" that on earth

  • 05.12.2006 9:58 PM PDT

Ok they didn't want the oni base first off. The crystal underneath it they wanted. Second it was how many feet down? A few thousand. The ark is massive. They just knew it was on earth adn perhaps there are other things they want...

(10:19:49 PM) Scruss: oh and pezza, i saw what you did to that cat
(10:20:17 PM) Pezza: You were the one with the video camera breathing heavily. Of course you saw.

Because Earth has a religious aspect to them, they didn't come to Earth the first time to destroy the human race, They came to look for something.

Something they didn't find the first time. Something that they were looking for long before humanity was a dominant force.

It's true about the ark and such, but another main reason is that they did not mean to find Earth. They really just stumbled upon it. If you paid attention to the story, you would know that. The Prophet of Regret even asks the other Prophets for forgiveness for him jumping the gun on Earth, seeing as they did not have enough backup (because they were unprepared).

This apple is brown, and rotten. This orange on the other hand, is in relatively average shape. So the orange is definitely the preferable option.
----------You can't compare apples and oranges. You're so dumb.

Reach: They did not wish to harm the crystal

Earth: They did not wish to destroy all those artifacts including the giant gun pointing at a planet or moon and will uncover the ark a ship (like in the biblical flood).

I'm pretty sure someone else has corrected your misinterpreted thoughts and ideas, but I'd like to add my two pounds.

Correct my ignorant ass if I'm wrong, but wasn't it the UNSC that they attacked? Weren't the ONI the pirate like dudes who the spartans fought in the first book?

Those were rebels
ONI- Office of Naval Inteligence

And two if you have read the books you would know. Everything is burned to a blackish smear. Planet side everything is burining. More fire more smoke. And very few things survive Plasma torpeados.

Has anyone checked out www.ilovebees.com again? I think there's something new there, but I kind of lost track of it when Halo 2 neared release so it may be old... can anyone check it out I just created a posting account (Forgot my old one) and can't make a new topic about this for 24 hours... I'm posting this same thing around in some popular threads so people can check it out.

If you have read first strike. There is massive fire in the forrests. Smoke is billowing up from it all. The rivers are dry. Everything has been heated to glass where the plasma hit and everything around it is burning.

I got the impression the damage there was caused by the Prophet of Regret jumping inside Earth's atmosphere. Tearing a rift in space probably does a lot of damage in an atmosphere.

Oh, and I think the Prophet found what he was looking for - that's why they came back with a gigantic fleet.

1. They didn't want to damage the Earth since it is the Ark
2. They may damage the control room of the Ark in Africa
3. They only had a few ships

They glassed reach with what appeared to be around 50 ships I'd say. They could with 15 but it would take forever.
