Why would there need to be a Halo in earth? Couldn't the Forerunners just build relevant structures on the surface? Remember what happens to things that are very old? Dinosaurs got covered up too. It makes absolutely no sense to build a Halo in Earth.

Now, as for the placement of these Forerunner structures, it makes perfect sense that they are where they are for astronomical reasons.

Forerunners most likely called Earth home. What better place to have the remote for ending all life in the galaxy.

Hell Yeah, finally someone agrees with me! The threas starter and anyone who agrees with him is a complete idiot lacking logic! -blam!-!

You obviously can’t be expected to partisipate in the thread maturely and comment about a subject you obviously know little about. when your knowledge on said subject could only be described as sporadic at best. You have to resort to personal attacks and self contradiction in a vain attempt to be heard. Your obsession with trying to make the Halo story fit with some obscure theory that the Master Chief is the Messiah or Jesus Christ. And the Ark has to have something to do with the ten commandments and Noah from you baby book of bible stories is laughable at best. Sure there are parallels with the Torah, the Bible and the Qa’ran that can be drawn with the Halo story however these are vague at best. The one thing I have learnt over the last seven years of being Hardcore Halo is no matter what, Bungie always surprises. No matter what theory you, me or anyone else will come up with this game will make little men like you wet yourself and fill all us other fan boys and girls with awe. All I know is that there is at least a year before this game comes out and Bungie is going to drip feed us on starvation rations right up to the night millions of us line up outside our favourite software retailer only to call in sick for work the following day, while these forums go eerily quiet for a time. And after that time if I find out there is not a Halo Hidden Here On Earth and that the Master Chief takes his armour off only to reveal he is the second coming of Christ and starts breakething the bread and drickething the wine just before he and all his disciples retrieve the ten commandments from the ark of the covenant only then to make their way to Noahs Ark so they can go forth out across the galaxy because they have so much love to give, then I will apologize for ever conceiving this blasphemous theory. However in the mean time I am going to stick with a theory that fits with in the scientific confides of the fictitious limitations as outlined in all the available official Bungie Halo products. And a theory that has more substantial evidence to it than your dribble.

Dude, why don't you just come to terms with the fact that your theory is flawed? It's an interesting idea, a theory, a thought that came to you from reasoning, e.t.c. But surely you can see the counter arguements out way your research? It sounded like a good idea at first, but it's been undone. Accept it, and come up with something else.

Sega Mega Drive, Golden Axe and Sonic all day!

Both sides of the arguement hold weight.

But, its OBVIOUS that the structure underneath the earth is the ark. Just like it is OBVIOUS that humans are forerunners. Think about it, when you play Halo 3, are you going to be more pleased if every single person on the forum was right, and it turns out we are the forerunners, or will you be more interested and surprised if Bungie came up with a different idea?

That was a nice rant and all, but your theory doesn't fit within the "fictitious limitations" given by "official Bungie Halo products." The "slip-space matter echange" technology is never mentioned in any product, publication or game created by Bungie or Microsoft. Further, a Halo under earth's crust is not possible. It's been handily criticized and scrutinized on this forum. That's generally what happens when you are one of the first that publicizes your theory. Not only do the limitations within the Halo universe disprove this theory, but so do the biological and geological fundamentals of the planet. Even further, had there been a Halo inside the planet, it certainly would ahve shown up surrounded by a planet when Penitent Tangent activated the hologram that revealed the location of the other Halos, and surely someone would have found it before 2552. This theory, while unique and creative, is jsut not plausible.

Most of his evidence is too irrelevant. All the viable evidence suggests that there are Forerunner artifacts under Earths surface. Obviously. My one and only point. There is no reason whatsoever to have an entire Halo under earths crust. No bloody reason. Halo is firstly a containment device. It is a ringworld that creates its own gravity with centrifugal force. Earth already has gravity and is livable. Yet it is necessary to inject a Halo in Earth?

Theory:
Key structures where built on the surface of Earth 100,000 years ago by the Forerunners. They were buried/hidden.

As for the analogies between Halo's story and the Bible. Sure, its somewhat there. It wont be brought up by any means however. Doesn't one of the trailors of Halo 2 actually say something about Earth's savior? Though, it doesnt mean he's Jesus. The ark doesn't contain the Ten Commandments and Noah will never be mentioned. Sorry Halo Empire, but the likeness between the Bible and Halo can exist without the breaking of bread. You just need to think a little more metaphorically. Heck, even the Matrix used analogies from the Bible.

Bungie is based in America, so it's obvious that they have made the structure on Earth a McDonalds or something. The Covenant just came for some Mountain Dew and burgers but the americans got there first so they are angry so they are killing everyone.

My theory is backed up by a quote in the book, "The Fall of Reach".
'Sir, we need the Spartan project to advertise Mountain Dew, so we don't get thrown into a civil war whilst fighting the Covenent.' ~~ Captain Keyes (he was a commander at this point, not a captain)

There is also a quote to back this up in "First Strike".
'The Americans have set up MAC cannons to defend their Mounatin Dew. We must take them out and land to find it before they do.' ~~ Truth

Also, the Flood have green blood. That's right, Americans turn into Flood when they don't have enough sugary lard burger snacks and their Mountain Dew, so their blood tries to turn into Mountain Dew to save them but it just really turns them into monsters.

Only the dead have seen the end of war. - Plato

I think perhaps the best theory of all, is that if we wait, we MIGHT just find out when the frickin' game releases. I don't see the need in someone saying "Hey, what if...." then a hundred people come down on him and start a debating war. Just wait until next year. I mean I know that's what this forum is basically for, but still I mean, is it really worth all of this? It's a neat idea, and it poses some thought. I don't think dissecting a video game trailer and posing scientific and mathematical theories is really gonna make you any more right than the kid saying that it's just a modern day covenant 711 convenient store. And those ships are stopping in for a fill-up and a bathroom break. Just wait for 2007. We'll find out everything then. If you are right about it all, well congratulations, you need a girlfriend and perhaps some time outdoors, but congratulations.

Man that was funny!! lol... anyway what dont we simplify things by choosing two options on what that round srtucture is. I'll start 1st.
1. A teleport to where the real safe place is.
2.something completly different from what the prophet of truth thinks it is. And it'll catch him and everybody else by surprise.

Haha. Yeah. Well actually at this time, you're theory and any other theory out there holds weight. So I will consider it for the time being. Speaking of McDonald's, I'm hungry.

Also I agree with the comment above (jimmy), it IS a pain to wait. There is no other choice though. *sniff* Sad, really.

The halo's land masses are on the inside of of the Halo. The projectile fires from the inside of the Halo to the center of it. You notice the outside of Halo is just a whole lot of Metal and -blam!-. The Halo would have to be an inverted Halo with the land mass on the outside and the metal on the inside...and that doesnt make much sense does it?

Look... I'm on bungiepedia!

Halo Empire, I never said MC was Jesus, but he is definately saving Earth, and the Earth is definately the Ark.

There is also no reason whatsoever to have a whole entire Halo under Earth's crust when all you need is a few key buildings. -blam!- man, get it through your head.

This following theory is one I thought up, and wrote in about 8 minutes. It's ot very good, but try to enjoy it anyway. It's more plausible than HE's in my opinion..

What if the Forerunners are not one race, but a group of Races in the same civilization like the Covenant in 2552...

This theory isn't a very good one, but I can show that I can come up with a more likely to come true theory than the thread starter. Here it goes.

Forerunner's gods are never mentioned...now either they had no gods, cause they believe this idea is stupid...or they had a god/gods.

What if the Prophets were their gods (or just religious / military leaders like they are now), and the Humans in the civilization grew tired of the Prophets reign (like the Elites do in Halo 2), and rise up against them...they build the Halos secretly, and then the Ark.

The Flood could be a fluke, and used to keep the Prophets' attention off of the rings' construction.

They scatter clues all over Forerunner planets, and since the Humans are the ones who made the rings...maybe they are the only ones to be reclaimers (or not, since we never saw a Prophet go after an index)

Okay, now comes the strange part..they make the final checks and place embryos on the PLanet Earth (theory of evolution), or hide on Earth (we were placed here a la the Bible)...the Rings are unleashed and all the civilizations die except for the humans on Earth..

The Prophets could easily re-evolve on their homeworld, and it being the homeworld for the old Covenant / Forerunners (Forerunner seems like a title, rather than a race), there is more tech.

The Prophets could also theoretically survive in slipspace, or warped slipspace..

They learn of what happened after years and years, then they wait. Wait for help. Once the Elites start evolving, and become smart - war is waged and after being put into submission the New Covenant is formed.

The Covenant go around and assimilate different species gaining closer and closer on their ultimate goal - to use the humans' weapons on them before they remember what they are.

All the while they are using their original technology, and hiding the truth from the Covenant, saying that the humans are an affront to the gods (though we went through the same bull -blam!- the nw Covenant went through, but possibly, for longer.)

How's that for a theory?

Not too good, I know, but it would be a nice twist to things..maybe Prohpets are telling the truth, though we only did what we had to do, for the greater good. We didn't want more species to be under the Prophets control, so we got rid of them)

PhreakShow
In Halo CE, how does the MC get from the swamps were he meets GS343 into the library? Teleportation. In Halo2, how does Gravemind move the MC and the Arbiter to the starting points for the special missions he wants them to perform? Again its teleportation. So we have a science fiction universe that we have followed since its development, a universe with objects like plasma pistols, energy swords, particle beams, anti grav fields, 5km long capital class space vessels capable of slip space travel, 100,000 year old orbiting ring worlds with habitable synthetic ecosystems with a 10,000kms diameter and super scale weapon systems capable of destroying all sentient life in 25,000 light years in every direction while leaving non sentient life untouched and you are telling me that this same universe doesn’t even have something so simple for a science fiction audience to comprehend that they even featured it back in the 60,s on star trek?
