lol i appriciate most of the theories i see on these forums but i rarely belive one due to the countless possibilities for ideas that \bungie may have and the chance of one story being true is quite unlikely however i still enjoy watching the theories expand and siscussing them

I think you have a solid theory. With that said, I think that the structure coming out of the ground with the central light being the focal point, looked a lot like the covinent structure off in the distance throughout the level Gravemind in Halo 2. Couldn't it be possible that the shocker would be that the covinent had previously inhabited earth? And that the reason Cortana says, "I don't think they expected us to be here... not you and me, I mean humanity!", is because we weren't here when they left? Or did they bury their sturctures on Earth under the assumption they would need to return one day and ressurect them? Hey, maybe I'm making this too difficult... maybe humans used to be part of the covinent coalition.

Maybe the since the covinent have conquered earth, they are transforming it into a new High Charity? Any thoughts?

Yes, but you have to admit, this is one good theory compared to those others out there. We wont know it is true until Halo 3 arrives. They wont delete the theories as people would then know that they could be true. The only other thing that can help us develop these theories is more trailers. Lets hope.

Ok I just re-watched the trailer.

What your saying is that there is a halo laying on its side under the crust? Right?

Or are you saying the Halo wraps around the cercomfrence of the inside of the earth?

Because if your saying the first statement, then that halo is extreamly small compaired to the others. Plus what we can actualy see in the trailer, the parts that are folding up would have to be an extention, because none of the other Halos have those panels that I can see. Nothing folded out when delta halo fired up.

If your saying the second statement then esentualy wouldnt we only be able to see the out side of the ring? Its center would be the center of the earth, so if its firing from the equater, that would mean the top of the ring would have to be at the north pole and the bottom of the ring at the south pole. The sides of the ring would have to run along north/south america and the other side of the ring would run under the crust along asia at the oposit end of the earth. Could a halo fire anything threw earths mass tho from its center...i dont know.

If what you say is true, were not actualy looking at a halo in the trailer, but the tip of the berrel so to speek, where the shot from Halo would escape the earth and go into outer space.

Has anyone figured out if Voi is ever aligned with the moon yet?

Covenant use forerunner tech, right? So they just discover that this certain planet has more forerunner tech on it. And so they head for this planet, the planet being Earth.
Edit: The dome structure we see could simply be an access point to the Halo beneath the Earths surface. And the guy who came up with the theory was saying that the Halo may run across the equator of the Earth.

This apple is brown, and rotten. This orange on the other hand, is in relatively average shape. So the orange is definitely the preferable option.
----------You can't compare apples and oranges. You're so dumb.

Harder rock on the moon? Actually thats a good question and leaves me with one anwser. There not aiming at the moon but something else. " I Recall a sun black but shining" a quote from cortana in the cortana letters.

And what does that mea exactly?

I think its a homing becon for the forerunners.

People need to remember that the covienent used forerunner technology to make all their stuff so that would probably explain why the beacon thing sounds like a scarab gun.

  • 05.13.2006 2:46 AM PDT

Maybe it sounds like a scarab gun because they didnt really have much time to create a new sound for it. Maybe its just a case of saving time.
Edit: You know what? Forget this post. Im really not helping with the whole theory thing.

Runs across it or with it? If this halo were to run along the out side of the earth, at the equator (think of a hoolahoop), then it would fire out ether the north or south pole, which it is not.

So if what he is saying is true, then the length of the halo would have to run from pole to pole for it to fire out the equator. It would have to wrap around under north america, and asia at the other end for it to fire out the center near the equator in africa. <--Is that what he is saying? Im trying to get a mental pic.

yeah i mean a giant scarab gun is silly the rings expolde taking out everything 'around' themselves but a scarabgun would just shoot across space and it would have to be pointing the right way and no planets should be in the way.

Scarab rifle? WTF? You say thats a dumb thing for me to say? IT looks nothing like a damn halo at ALL. Even look at a picture of a scarab ( the hole in the center and the thigns around the side are exactly the same). So now we have it sounding and looking like a scarab main gun and with your theory it makes no mathamatical sense.
I agree with you on the sound part. They sound almost exactly alike. They look different, though. But I don't think Bungie would recycle the Scarab Gun sound for no reason.

Says in Revilations, the sky will role back like a scrole, the sky will turn black and the sun will turn blood red.

Oh boy, I can see I wont be getting any sleep today. Lots to think about now.

I am...whimsical today.

I don't think that similar designs on the structurs is very conclusive. All of that stuff was made by the Forerunners, and so would have very similar patterns on them.

In the FAQ when it says that we may recognise the design, I think it is refering to the Forerunner ship that the Chief is currently on. The triangular sides bare the closest resemblance to me.

It also seems to me that a Halo would need an empty space in the middle of it, so that it could fire its weapon. That said, if there really is one down there, then it could be being protected. Maybe so the flood couldnt get to it, or another race like the Covonant. But then this beggs the question 'why were the other Halos not protected in this way?'

I think that the Artifact is most likely the Ark.

  • 05.13.2006 2:54 AM PDT

I think he means the Halo is the equaor. If you know what i mean. The equaor line is the Halo, if you get me.

I've descided that if it his a scarab gun it could be a cool ending with a race to stop it as the earth revolves and aligns with its target there could only be like one time every few years it would actually hit so there would b like arace to prevent it fireing

  • 05.13.2006 2:55 AM PDT

What would it align with though?

forerunner home planet maybe its just speculation

  • 05.13.2006 3:00 AM PDT

Do the forerunners even have a planet? And why would a forerunner weapon fire at the forerunner home planent? lol

What I'm saying is that a Halo's equator lies below the Earth's equator and thier axis are alligned perfectly together this way Halo's ring structure follows the the Earth's equator east to west. So if you were on the Earth's equator and to dig a very deep hole toward the Earth's centre you would hit the outer suface of a Halo.

Yeah how deep though? because in the trailer we see a giant becon/scarab gun protruding from the surface.

  • 05.13.2006 3:09 AM PDT

As I said before. The structure we see in the trailer may just be an access point to the Halo.
