To the guy who posted above. Nobody said the Ark is as immense as the Halos. What we see in the trailer could be it's entire size (but ofcourse, it may not be...). And anyway, just because the only thing we've seen built that size by the Forerunners is Halo, doesn't strictly mean it's the only thing they can build that size.
Halo Empire mentioned something about the object being buried under millions of years undisturbed geography. Mt. Kilimanjaro for example is (aboout) 500,000 years old. Now, I don't know much about the geography of where the object in the trailer is specifically, but I'm guessing there isn't any thing there that could suggest that the ground has been undisturbed for millions of years. Especially considering Mt. Kilimanjaro erupting in the background. I may be wrong ofcourse.
Consider something else though. Most people date the use of the rings, and the death of the Forerunners as 100,000 years ago. The oldest human remains date to 150,000 years ago. There is also speculation that intelligent life excistes on earth millions of years ago.
