10,000kms from inner rim to inner rim + 22.3x2 for the Halo's structural thickness = 10,044.6kms. Still fits inside Earths diameter
yeah but it wouldn't be that close to the surface. (i didn't mean to be so judgemental in my previous post sorry.)

Maybe not all the Halos are the exact same size... ever think of that? :D

True, in the control room of Delta Halo at the end of the game, 343 Guilty Spark shows Miranda, Johnson, and the Arbiter a hologram of all 7 of the halos, and they all seem to fit inside the preceding one, so yes, they are different sizes.

Really, its the Ark.
The thing that can activate all the Halo s remotely.

  • 05.13.2006 9:44 AM PDT

Thankyou.

  • 05.13.2006 9:45 AM PDT

Hey, I was just saying that all the halos fit inside each other.

Don't you think that it could be something else... I mean its not exactly a briliant marketing strategy to show the climax of your game in an annoucment trailer.

I know this is probably not true...but if the core of the earth happened to power the grav lift or whatever that beam is...the energy drawn by the beam hypothetically could have cooled the core enough to cause one of our ice ages. An ice age is believed to have started about 150000 years ago and lasted about 20000 years. The last ice age was shorter and occured about 20000 years ago. This could be the cause of the extinction of the dinosaurs (highly unlikely).

That can't be right. Why would the forerunners put a halo in the ark it doesn't make any sense.

watch the movie from the original halo...what was it? assult on the control room? i don't remember. when cortana went into the computer, it showed about five halo's, all of which fit within eachother. kind of like a dart boards rings. not all halo's are exact same size

i think the forerunners inhabbited earth and built it and after all the years it has been burried thet would explain how it was underground

  • 05.13.2006 9:53 AM PDT

hey hey now everyone has their own idea for Halo 3 and some just happen to sound better than others. But remember with Halo 2 how there was like some odd five hundred theories and like only 3 were close!

I personally think it would be really funny if like someone else (dont know who sorry) posted that there was some giant Forerunner facility or city under Earth that we never knew of. I mean imagine, We and the Covenant race down to the bottom of this thing expecting to fing the Ark or something else when all of a sudden we run into a bunch of forerunner? In my eyes thats the exact Halo equivalent of the opening of Lost Season 2 when they find Desmond in the hatch. Think about it.

Just so you know I'm just giving opinions and making jokes about what I think would be funny, not actually making a legit theory like some of the others here, so dont flame this please.

I thought of something while he talked about Arc being in Antarctic. I don't know if this sounds stupid, or not. But if Earth still has ice caps and whatnot on the poles, what if like he said , there is a halo underneath Earth's surface and, if fired would melt the ice-caps, and the only way to survive the flodding of Earth is on the Arc, like in the Bible. Lol, I guess it sounds stupid. And I guess the Arc being there as a way to be protected by the flood (flood life form) is a better theory.

I just thought of an add on to what was previously stated.
Since each of the 7 halos are different sizes. What if they were meant to come together, and fit together either as a giant disk, or as a giant rotating object similar to a gyroscope?

they are way to far apart to come together as one object. also there are no longer 7 rings to be fired, seeing as MC destroyed one of them. I wonder what effect this will have when and if the rings are activated?

Yea and then the thing that filled the hole in the centre was the Ark, which would float up and complete the circle. Then KABOOM! The Halos would fire simultaniously to finish off the lifeforms and slowly float across space and scatter. That is a very good theory ViperGTSR3g.

okay, it's a nice theory and all, but I have to come back to this fact:

343 says the arc must be activated remotely...as in, not on a halo. Why? The forerunners don't want to make it easy to fire the halos and bring them back. I like the theory that said something about blasting the moon. Why?

because the end of the trailer isn't the end of the world. Period. It's 1/3 of the way through the story, and a big blast of light doesn't destroy all life in the universe...at least, not that blast of light. Whatever that was, it wasn't the arc being activated, UNLESS activating the arc doesn't do what we think it does...

If it was the end of the universe, the chief would still be fighting. The game would be over. Etc. Maybe that blast of light is opening up a rift in time that brings back the surviving forerunners. Remember, Staten said they aren't in our galaxy, not that they are all dead. Maybe it is pointing to the location of another main point in the story. I don't know...

I like Sarumanthe's idea about maybe bringing back some forerunners although I think it would ruin the mystery behind them.

you have a good idea and all but remember one thing.......THE FORERUNNERS ACTIVATED THE RINGS ONCE B4 AND GUILTY SPARK PROBABLY DOSENT KNO WHERE THE HELL THE BASE IS. Also if this were the case wouldent it also make since that REMOTE ACTIVATION dosent necessairlly mean on a plant...... for all we kno it could be the size of a T.V. remote.

From the Sketches , I belive the thing under the Crust is clearly the Arc.

But seriously, no one has mentioned the forerunner ship that was coming to earth at the end of halo2, the one cheif hitched a ride back on, Maybe this forerunner ship has some connection with the Arc.

I used to belive the forerunner ship that the convenant had found, that was in the middle of high charity, WAS the arc.

But its obvoiusly not... The forerunner ship and the arc on earth something to do with eachother, because, why would the forerunner ship be going to earth in the first place,

Maybe the covenant obviously know something about earth that humanity doesent

Whether or not there is a Halo in the Earth there's something. Like I said already, there has to be some sort of map like the silent cartographer in the first Halo that tells where the other Halo's actually are. After all you can't just jump blindly into space and find a ring although captain Keyes did it which is true. Still though he probably got the 1 out of 7888979807890707866676875765576785757646433523423213254656557 678786687789.

By the way guys, don't get carried away with the trailler. H2 trailer seemed like the game was all about Earth's demise but that was really only 2 missions. This could go for this one too and we may just find another Halo.

Keyes didn't randomly find it :)

if you read the book, Cortana realized that the symbols they'd seen were familiar, and thought about the symbols as a star chart, did the calculations, and uploaded the coordinates to the PoA before they jumped away from earth...

Cortana chose to jump to the Halo, Keyes thought it was a random heading.

I'm telling you guys, the Ark sensed the Covenant in the it and destroyed killed everything within a radius. Similar to what happened to someone not doing the right thing with the Ark of the Covenant in the Bible. More details here: http://www.bungie.net/Forums/posts.aspx?postID=6918724&vi ewre plies=true
