if I get banned in a private group does that affect my rank on the main forum?

  • 01.10.2012 9:49 PM PDT

No, private groups and the mains are totally separate places. If you get banned in a private group it won't show up in your main forums ban history i believe, and it won't effect your title.

All simple discussion or questions about title's should be addressed in the FAQ on Bungie.net Member Titles / Prefixes / Bar Colors thread.

To answer your question as simply as possible: Probably not.

If you want a more detailed answer, ask for it in the linked thread.

I suspect llamas are secretly wizards. I <3 poptarts n' milk. I like me. Grimick is defined as: a logical parodox, the act of funnaling a potato down your throat, and a deliciously flavored muffin (with pecons and blueberries). Norway is the Swedish word for 'moron'. My sister has cancer, so i get to use handicap parking and cut small children in line at Disneyland.

"Don't eat doughnuts on thin ice."

"The pancake, my friend, has officially been flipped."

No, private groups are totally separate. Neither one affects the other.

No. The mains and groups are completely separate. Some groups could have rules much different than the mains and whatnot. If it does, than I don't even know what to say about that.

The tide is turning, brothers! Let us take our kingdom back!

No, but you should still feel bad.

Not that I know of, you'll be fine. It's also easier to talk your way out of Private Group bans. If it was personal reasons, you can usually get back in. If it was because you were doing something you weren't supposed to, you may have a problem there.

Whichever it is, if you were banned in a private group. There's (out on a limb) 100% your main forum rank will not be affected. That's my 2 cents.

Though posting in private groups can make your title higher... so who really knows.

Pretty much only if you're doing things that leak from your common sense.

i,e Iregal, etc.

But often groups are moderated not by actual bungie forum admins/mods/ninjas, so basically don't be an idgit.

Now, in the quantum moment before the closure, when all become one. One moment left. One point of space and time.

I know who you are.

You are Destiny.

Only the Webteam can really answer that (and they won't). It's likely that bans in groups may have affect on rank, but there's no way to be certain.

Your low forum rank is caused by a very low trust rating - one in which you build up over the course of your time here. Staying out of trouble, participating in private groups and public forums, linking your Gamertag, and having an account on Bungie.net for a few years are all things to help elevate your trust rating along with your forum title.

"We live in a special time; the only time where we can observationally verify that we live in a very special time" - Lawrence Krauss.

I was a finalist :P

Completely unknown. Posting in groups has been theorised (and partially proven) to add to your trust rating, ergo resulting in new titles. The same can be said about bans in groups effecting your title as well (in a negative way, of cause).

However, if the current system in place can correctly automate the difference between a ban from the mains, and a ban from group activity, then it is possible that it may not effect your trust rating in any way.
