"Halo doesn’t kill flood, it kills their food. Humans, Covenant, whatever! We’re all equally edible. The only way to stop the flood is to starve them to death…” - Cortana, Halo 1
ok, so the plan was to hope that all the flood would die because they have nothing to eat. well they were wrong because the flood could hibernate.
so would the flood hibernate if they assimilated all sentinent beings into their collective?
1) The flood can hibernate for eons on end
2) See my first answer
3) Similar to Star Trek's borg bring all life into one ugly collective family
1)yeah? only gravemind and the bugger forms. The rest die. I see that as dieing out, gravemind knows that and doesnt want to have another halo fire agains because he knows he cannot survive until sentinent life emerges or he he finds another source of food.
2)SAP
3) No, not similar to star trek's borg. If the borg assimilated all life into its collective, would it die out due to lack of food? Im fielding a no.
gravemind is the head of the flood as far as we can tell. He(it?) doesn't want the halo rings fired. that would annihilate his food source and i'm in the belief that he cannot hibernate again and survive. But if he devours all sentient life as it is, he would have to hibernate anyways. Does eating the rest of sentient life give him enough energy to hibernate and surive until sentient life revives? i doubt it, and im still under the assumption that the flood have another purpose other than simply eating all sentient life.
