From the author of the Warthog pointers thread ( http://www.bungie.net/Forums/posts.aspx?postID=62712949&v iewreplies=true&postRepeater1-p=1 ) and the Falcon pointers thread (http://www.bungie.net/Forums/posts.aspx?postID=68258390&v iewreplies=true&postRepeater1-p=1), by popular demand, here's a list of pointers for the Wraith... If you find these tips useful, post so the thread stays around for a while for others, or save it so it goes on the side bar.
============================================================= ==
These tips are in no particular order and I might add more if I think of them later or if someone else posts a good one.

-In BTB, the Wraith appears on Hemorrhage and Breakpoint (maybe on Renegade?), In Invasion, it appears in the third phase of Breakpoint and Boneyard. In Ibasion Slayer, it can be an Elite weapon drop in Hemo, Breakpoint, Spire, Boneyard, and Paradiso.
-Choose Sprint at the beginning of a game to make sure you get to the Wraith before your teammates. 1-Flag or 1-Bomb on Hemo are the easiest games in which to grab a Wraith because you'll have a shot at the beginning of each of the four rounds.
-The Wraith's main weapon, the plasma mortar, is the second most powerful explosive in the game, next to the Scorpion cannon. It can destroy any vehicle in one hit, except the Scorpion, but a direct hit to a Scorpion can destroy its cannon.
-There's also a significant invisible blast radius for the plasma mortar, more so than in Halo 3. Pause at 0:24 in this video for an example, the blast kills a fully shielded Spartan from about 15 feet away.
-The Wraith's armor is as tough as a Scorpion. However, the plating in the back is extremely weak, and someone shootign it can blow up a Wraith as easily as a Mongoose. Never ever expose your six to enemies, two guys with DMRs can blow you up before you even turn around.
-Four plasma grenade sticks will blow up a Wraith. One to the back armor will leave it 90% destroyed.
-A quick way to turn around is to do it while you boost in the opposite direction. Bumping a wing into the terrain can help.
-The Wraith is a formidable splattering tool, maybe the best in the game. A boosting Wraith can crush any vehicle (even another tank!) and even at normal speed you can splatter someone on foot. Its size and speed make it almost impossible to dodge, except with Evade. Be very aggressive with your splattering power.
-Be EXTREMELY careful about accidentally betraying a teammate with a splatter, you can splatter at low speeds and it's hard to change direction quickly. Jerks on your team might be less likely to forgive you than usual, because if you're booted.... hey, free Wraith.
-Don't try to splatter someone in Armor Lock, his EMP will freeze you and disable the gun. Just wait it out, or if it's TU settings, blast him and he'll pop out of his AL.
-If you're careful to always watch your radar and keep enemies in front of you, you'll never get boarded. I don't think I've been boarded once in the past 50ish BTB games. It's easy to blast people who charge at you from the front, and easy to splatter them if you miss.
-If someone is about to board you from the front and you can't stop him, get out of the Wraith. Chances are he's holding down the X button to board and he'll hop into the driver's seat rather than fight you. Then, you can board him and take it back.
-If you do get boarded from the front or side, you can boost up to a wall and fire at point blank range, taking some damage but killing the hijacker. If the boarder is latched on to the hatch of the Wraith right below the mortar, you can kill him if you aim a blast as far down as possible. This does serious damage to your Wraith.
-You can also board a wraith from behind. If this happens to you, you're screwed, but you might be able to commit suicide and kill him too.
-The deadliest hijacker is the one you don't see. If your radar shows someone is nearby in Active Camo, you can scan the ground with your reticle (wait for it to turn red), but the safest option is just to get the hell away.
-Your radar radius doesn't increase when you get in the Wraith. Remember that the Wraith is about 20 feet long and your body is positioned near the very front, so a red dot on radar that appears to be a safe distance behind you might actually be within boarding distance because the Wraith is so big.
-A gunner on the plasma cannon is helpful for keeping away hijackers. But the plasma cannon is so pathetic compared to the main mortar's strength that it's hardly worth using except for transport.
-Blocking a teleporter on Hemo with your Wraith is a nasty strategy that lets you bombard an enemy base with no chance of them sneaking up on you. If your Wraith is almost destroyed, you can park it on top of the teleporter and blow it up to create an immovable block that will stay there for 90 seconds or so.
-A good opening strategy on Hemo is to "hide" the Wraith behind your base or some terrain at the beginning of the match, let the enemy vehicles charge your side recklessly, and then pop out to nuke them. Always do this in defense rounds of 1-Flag or Assault.
-You can completely disrupt an enemy team by bringing the Wraith behind their base on Hemo, spawnkilling people on foot, and blowing up their parked vehicles. While this is devastating for a while, eventually you'll be boarded by someone who spawns right next to you, or blown up by concentrated DMR fire from pissed off enemies respawning on the ledges.
-The Wraith can't fire more than about 40 feet in front of it in the tunnel on Breakpoint because the mortar will hit the ceiling.
-Firing blindly across the map in huge arcs "mortar style" is a waste of time, everyone can see the blasts coming."
-Make sure you've got plenty of room in your medal chest for some Killing Sprees and Frenzies, you're gonna need it.
== WEAPON THREATS TO THE WRAITH ==
DMR: not very threatening, unless from behind, or an entire team shooting you from far away. Takes about six clips to kill.
Magnum: not enough ammo to be a threat. When people are shooting you with totally ineffective weapons, play it cool and don't let them psych you out into recklessly charging them or fleeing for cover.
AR: only a threat from behind and up close.
Sniper: kills in 8 shots, 3-4 from behind. 2-3 shots can take off the main gun.
Shotgun: if they're that close, you're getting boarded...
Grenade Launcher: extremely dangerous because an EMP'd Wraith can neither move nor fire (its plasma cannon can still shoot, though). They can fry you over and over while closing the gap to hijack you. However, keep in mind that you're able to fire the instant the EMP wears off, there's no delay before you can use the gun like there is when you first get into the driver's seat. Expect to see a lot of these in the third phase of Invasion: Boneyard and Breakpoint.
Rocket Launcher: extremely dangerous and hard to dodge, but you can blow up the rocket mid-flight if you catch it in a blast. 1-2 rockets kill.
Spartan Laser: Most dangerous. There's no way to dodge it and it kills in one hit. Making sure your team controls it is the best counter.
Frag Grenade: a problem only if a group of bad guys are throwing them at you, but you can blow them up.
Plasma Rifle or Repeater: almost harmless.
Plasma Pistol: see Grenade Launcher. In Elite Slayer, these guys are everywhere.
Needler and Needle Rifle: harmless, the needles bounce off your armor.
Focus Rifle: harmless
Fuel Rod: dangerous, kills in 2-3 shots.
Concussion Rifle: moderate threat, takes 3 clips to kill.
Plasma Launcher: extreme danger. If you see 3 or more blueberries coming your way, get out of the Wraith. A Jetpacker carrying one of those is your worst enemy on Hemo, you're better off fighting him on foot.
Sword/Hammer: see Shotgun.
=== VEHICLE THREATS TO THE WRAITH ===
Mongoose: Some punks who feel lucky might try to zip up behind your Wraith and hijack you, so quickly that you don't see them on radar. Listen for the sound of an approaching motor.
Warthog: very easy to kill at close to medium range if you stay calm and plan your shot while being lit up. If they're far away, close the distance quickly with a boost. You can splatter Hogs easily.
Rocket Hog: two full rocket salvos are needed to kill a Wraith. Get in close and kill them ASAP.
Falcon: you don't stand a chance if the pilot is smart and hovers high enough that he can easily dodge your blasts while they shoot you. If he's not, you can knock them out with a well aimed mortar.
Scorpion: it can kill a Wraith in one shot. The only way you can beat a Scorpion is by surprising it, or by using the mortar's arc to fire over an obstacle that shields you from its cannon.
Ghost: Their plasma fire is very weak but they're maneuverable enough to get behind a Wraith and shoot its weak spot and keep turning with the Wraith to stay out of its sights. Boosting away is usually enough to break this trap. Also, be wary of people using Ghosts to hijack you from behind.
Revenant: This is a challenging battle. It takes them 6 or 7 blasts to kill you while you can kill them with one, but they're fast and maneuverable and can dodge all day unless you get close.
Banshee: A good pilot can kill you with 2-3 bombs before you're close enough to kill them, but you can dodge the tracking bombs with a forward boost. It's very hard to kill a Banshee unless they get suicidally close.
Wraith: try to position yourself behind a hill and arc your shots. It takes two plasma mortars to kill a Wraith. If you don't use the element of surprise, it will almost end in both Wraiths killing each other.
