His final fate is incredibly depressing.

And that's all there is to say about it.

Do not waste your tears, I was not born to watch the world grow dim. Life is not measured in years, but by the deeds of men.

We should know better, because we are better.

And he must scream.

No his fate for 100,000 years was depressing and his story on the ring was depressing. There is still hope for the final fate

I like him as a character. At first you feel like he never changed through the first two books (until he gets turned into an AI), but then you notice that he slowly becomes more observant and thoughtful. There's also the struggle within him, of whether the Librarian really is looking out for him, or is using him.

A nice, big thread on Chakas would be nice. Maybe I'll make it.

But he's seriously the first character in any of the Halo books I've really liked, in the sense I wanted him to succeed at the end of the book. It came as a shock to me that he was actually Guilty Spark, but I always knew GS had some sort of past life where he was a real, biological being. It just popped into my mind.

Yeah I think that he will have a massive role in futire halo lore. I mean they named their company wafer him. And I agree with you 100% also for some reason I always liked 343 i dont know why but I did.

I didn't quite like Guilty Spark, I thought he was a generic nuts robot, but I do like Chakas.

I think the Terminals gave him more character, showing his descent into insanity.

I wake up to find myself
After all these years
And where all the time has gone
Still seems so unclear

It seems to me that 343GS wasn't actually Chakas, not all of him anyway. Just a fragment of him. A template, maybe.

The 343GS we knew was insane, but the Monitor narrating the book was quite composed. (Except maybe when the Lord of Admirals was breaking through.)

It'll be interesting to see how 343GS effects Halo 4 and how the Didact plays a role in H4-6. 343GS seems to suggest we'll be meeting him at some point. Or the Librarian at least.

I'm not sure if that particular monitor was in fact, 343 GS. I do recall someone saying that 343GS was the only monitor they knew of, so they just decided to call this one 343 as well...
I'd also like to point out that they apparently knew what the H3 Terminals said, so they must have retreived Cheif's armor at some point. All the more possible to think that the Infinity picked him up, and it explains how he got the Mk 7 armor...
Someone said "but this seems to be a complete contradiction of the Terminals..."
