Before I get started, I would like to let it be known that I am fully aware of the "Important Threads" sticky, but I believe the possibilities for expansion in the field of User Interface and personalization in Halo 3 are far too great to be lost within thousands of ideas concerning other areas of the game
For those who are not familiar with the topic, UI, or user interface, includes the many menus of the game and how you navigate through them. For developers it is important to provide a fairly simple UI that is easy to navigate through.
Within these menus, users can select options to customize the game to your needs. This normally includes features like look inversion, volumes, sensitivities, etc.
Other personalization features that we are already accustomed to are the selection of a logo, color, and type of character.
What other Ideas to you have concerning the outlay of the UI and features that involve personalization. Here is a list of personalization features that I think should be included in the UI:
1. Customizable HUD. In Halo 2, the HUD was pink if you were an Elite, and Blue if you were a Spartan. I would like to see an Unreal Tournament style customization feature for the HUD. This would include reticle size, shape, and color. A change in reticle size or shape would have absolutely no effect on bullet patterns or accuracy of course, it would just be there to fit the needs of the user. Color change would be there to assist in gaining a quick sight picture over your enemy. You obviously wouldn’t want an orangish brown reticle on a level like Coagulation due to the color of your surroundings.
2. More customization for clans. A better UI for the entire clan portion of multiplayer would be nice. Possibilities would be an option to create universal colors or logos for your clan members.
As of now that’s all I have. Post your ideas about how we should be able to control and customize certain aspects of the game, especially for clans because my ideas have run dry on that topic.
