hey guys ive been wondering...well, i have like 3 old computers, one of them is windows 2000, the other is windows 1998, and i think the last one is windows ME...well, i decided that since i dont need those computers anymore, and my current windows XP computer is in great need of RAM, is it possible to take the RAM cards from my old computer and stick'em in my current one? note that all 4 computers are different, so if each types of computer has its own specific type of RAM cards, please tell me. if im able to stick the cards into my current computer, that will be awesome.

thank you in advance, and feel free to laugh at me if im wrong, etc.

What kind of RAM does your current computer have, and what kinds of RAM do the other computers you want to salvage from have?

There are a few types of ram. They aren't OS specific though. Older computers will usually have SD ram, and newer ones will have DDR or DDR2. None of these are compatable with each other.

Chewy's right. If your lucky and all the RAM you have is compatable, the you're lucky. If not, RAM's still pretty cheap, I can get a 256 Mb stick of RAM from Staples for around 40 dollars. But I won't, cuz I don't need it.

DDR2 was pretty expensive in large amounts when I upgraded. 2 x 1 GB sticks were almost $200. Hopefully those prices have gone down.
