I agree with Shadow..How do you kno that this is directly after Halo2..I don't think it is..it wouldnt make sense..He lands onto Earth and then hes watching a Covenant Fleet about to do something stupid..Obviously its somewhere farther along into the story..Maybe this is why he looks different, MC met up with other humans once again and got upgrades maybe? This could explain the "Blinking" in his HUD..He might have met up with the "Surviving" spartans or something..And maybe hes holding an upgraded AR..Who knows..Again just a thought..

Its about 1/3 through the game

But how would he get upgrades from a barley surviving race? If this is a little after the end of H2 than I doubt hes even seen another human yet.

Like I said before, "Who knows"...We don't..And another thought..If there are othere remaining Spartans..Somebody help me out..Whoever it was with Dr. Hasley and if they did go back to Earth..Correct me if i'm wrong..They wouldnt show themselvs to the Covenant..Not yet at least..The last thing the Covenant would want are more Spartans kicking there "alien butts" out there..They could have been in an "underground" organization to conceal themselves..and whatever they were working on could have resulted in either more Spartans, Upgrades to the old equipment and probably something for the MC if he ever returned..(Cause they wouldn't know..)..

I think that mostly, people here for the most part just don't have the right information or they do and they try to point it out. If the books are a seperate story, that's just dumb. The books explained how they got back to Earth after the first Halo. It explains what happened before the first Halo. There is story to the games believe it or not. If the books have no relevance, then how'd Keyes end up at Halo in the first place? The story doesn't start with him finding it and having no explanation as to how he got there or WHY he got there. YES THAT IS THE MASTER CHIEF!! Bungie has said it themselves. No, I doubt they're lieing, but you'll just have to wait till H3 comes out to see now won't you? YES there ARE surviving SPARTANs. For those saying you have read the books and that they're dead, you're wrong. Read First Strike. While some of SPARTANs died in it, there were a few left who survived on Reach. And yes, they did make it back to Earth. And no, the UNSC and ONI didn't just decide, "Oh let's just kill our most powerful weapon against the alien forces that are destroying us. Har har." It makes PERFECT sense to have other SPARTANs in the story. You just need to look for the information to know this.

if I got my facts straight 087-Kelly was the one with Halsey. But I do agree with some stuff here. An "underground" org could be very possible. But there not really showing themselves to the covenant. For all the covenant knows that could be the mc(which it isnt). They might not of even noticed him cuz of the urgency in front of them, the "arc" or whatever.

I think it's MC. The new gun can be explained simply. He was on the High Charity, (I think that's the name...) at the end. Now he's on earth. That ovbiously wans't from directly the end of Halo 2 to the start of Halo 3. I think that's a bit into the game.

that dosent make sense to me. Yes he was on high charity, but he left without a weapon. If ne thing he is still on the ship that truth is on. Youre just saying that the mc appeared outta nowhere.

He could've found one in the ruins of New Mombasa... The game didn't go Halo 2 -> Cutscene from Halo 2. There was some time difference.

Eitherway, he's the freakin' MC. He could make one out of the remains of 3 grunts, an elite, and a few jackals he killed with his bare face. He's that cool.

Isnt it just so easy to go buy what bungie tells us? Im just going out on a limb here trying to make the trailer interesting. But i really think it makes no sense that the mc is the one u see in the trailer. First of all he comes outta nowhere wit all new and shiny stuff. Sum ppl will say that he got upgrades from humans which is very VERY unlikely. Second of all in the trailer, he dosent say ne thing. If he is the mc then y dosent bungie have him say sumthing in the trailer to confirm it (or do all the spartans sound the same? i have no idea). Third of all there is a theory out there thats saying that that isnt even cortana in the trailer, that it is infact Dr.Halsey, which would make sense that the spartan with her is 087-Kelly which i think was MIA with her. So I know that bungie has said that its the mc but it just dosent add up for me.

They should have mention of the other Spartans, but fighting along side them...um....that wouldnt be that cool. They should be mentioned that they were on other missions while we (MC) was busy running around New Mombassa.

You face an opponent who has never known defeat, who laughs in foreign tongues at your efforts to survive. This is Reply suicide.

I personally think it would be cool to fight along side another Spartan...

But what I'd like to see first is a four-player cooperative... Or maybe a cooperative game across the net. Both would be pretty cool. You could give orders, split up the weapons (so many weapons!) and work together with other people...

I think it'd be interesting to see how people play levels from the game instead of multiplayer maps.

I'd personally like to fight along an AI controlled Spartan. That'd be interesting. You know, instead of a crappy marine and dying with one blow or whatever... It could be another Spartan for part of a level and could seriously kick some butt!

It would be uber-sweet!

Whatever..........finding a shiny efficient, working weapon in the ruins of new mombasa is a very miniscule chance. and how do u know that there was a time difference? Sigh* i guess will just have to wait and see who it is when 2007 rolls around.

I've been thinking a lot about having other spartans in the game. It also got me thinking about mc's backstory, because if you wanted to put another spartan into the game, you'ld have to explain why there are other spartans and how they came about (basically the events of Fall of Reach). It would be very interesting if the very first part of the game, the usual training "look up, look down, is this better or worse" deal took place in mc's past, kind of as a flashback to his days in training, maybe when he was first introduced to the armor. That way, in introducing new players to controls with this obligatory training session, you could tell a lot of backstory and introduce mc's old military buddies and fellow spartans.

I am hoping that they make more of a character-driven plot by telling the chief's past and the things that the spartans had to endure. It would also fit into the "darker" feel of the story, kind of like the direction that the movie "Batman Begins" took.

We know it's later on in the story because Bungie's said it's about 1/3 into H3. I'm pretty sure they're not lieing about that because it makes perfect sense. As a matter of fact, I'm going to finish the last level of H2 again and see if there is any swirling clouds or whatnot on Earth when the Forerunner ship enter's Earth's orbit. If there aren't, that means it's a while into H3. If there ARE then we know that the trailer, while 1/3 into H3, doesn't have MC in it.

How's this for an intro.

The game starts with a cinematic showing the spartans in training (but of course not showing John's face. Maybe even introduce Dr. Halsey and other significant people from John's past. Then john is called to try on the new armor that just finished development, and he gets his first taste of the mjolnir technology. He tests on the armor and gets acquainted witht he new technology, and this is where you, the player, gets to do the obligatory calibration session. Then flash forward to the onset of the covenant attack on reach, the desperation, the panic. As the flashback progresses, telling of Reach's defeat, you get to fight against the attacking covenant, and even see John's first encounter with an Elite. The fight continues, but the situation becomes more desperate as the covenant fleet overpowers Reach's defenses. MAC orbital stations are demolished and ship after ship is destroyed. A cinematic shows your frantic retreat from battle, the desperate calls to fellow fighting spartans, as you board the Pillar of Autumn and prepare to make the blind slipspace jump, as you look out and witness the covenant fleet surrounding, and glassing Reach, your home. Flash to white, and fade in close on MC's visor, slowly zooming out to show the chief, present time (some time after the events of halo2), inside a shaking dropship accompanying marines on their way to engage covenant forces that have all but obliterated the area of new mombasa. And the whole sequence was mc's recollection of his good days on Reach, when you didn't have to wonder if every day was your last, before everyone that he cared for was lost, and before life bacame an endless routine of battle, death, and destruction.

well I just beat the game again and sure enough I saw a couple swirling clouds in earths atmosphere.......hmmmvery similar to the clouds in the trailer. So if the swirling clouds are at the end of the game as are in the trailer, there is a possibility that the spartan in the trailer in not mc......... interesting.

It would make sense. Plus I dont even think thats the master chief in the trailer. Think about it.

Um, ok I'll think about it.

Bungie have said it is, Marty O Donnell has said it is, so you are saying that all those are wrong?

If so, shouldn't you be making halo 3 then..?

There could be new spartans. come on do u really think that the mc just comes outta nowhere with all new shiny armor and a weapon he diddnt even have at the end of H2. Its another spartan.

First of all, how do you know when the trailer takes place. It could be years after the ending of Halo 2. Second, take a good look at the Master Chief's armor. It isn't shiny and new, it's all beat up and scarred. Third, why can't the chief have a new weapon. The trailer takes place well into the game (its an actual cutscene) and there were new weapons in Halo 2 that he didn't have in Halo CE.

I'm not disagreeing with you, just your arguments.
