You're saying the randomness is only when you spam and that your shots should hit exactly where you shoot them? Sure that's great. Now lets look at the one other variable, the enemy player! Don't forget about him! What if he decides to spam? Randomness comes into play!

I can't make my enemies pace their shots.

Unless you're saying somehow the randomness helps a spammer by scattering bullets all over the place, then the bloom system does its job of punishing spammers.
Noob or not, I have out-DMRed many a spammer by pacing my shots.

Thank you this time for actually responding with a counter-argument instead of attacking myself.

It shouldn't help them. When someone spams and their bloom expands the game should make it so their bullets CANNOT go into the middle of where they are aiming at all. As it stands now they go everywhere and often times these "spammers" will still manage to it most of their shots.

I have to say that I HATE bloom. It just ruins that classic Halo-feel for me. If I wanted a game where I had to pace my shots I'd go play -blam!- of Dooty.

I see your point. I do think that the bloom needs to be more severe in order to have a higher impact. However, more often than not bloom WILL punish spammers. Rarely can one perfect 5 shot or basically just headshot if they are spamming (and like another user said, this is crucial in gametypes such as SWAT).

bloom does put players who pace at a great advantage to those who spam. It does add more skill to how you time your shots, but the drawback is that it slows down gameplay.

This is fairly correct apart from thinking that controlling bloom is a skill; the player who can keep his shots accurate at the highest RoF shouldn't be punished for being able to do so, and that's all bloom does - handicap the players who have always been able to shoot better in previous Halo games.

Assuming I decide to pace my shots with bloom I'm given a large window during the reset to adjust my aim and make sure the next one lands which actually makes it easier, especially since while the reticle is bloomed it's more likely to "stick" to the target and the system will help me with hitting that shot.

Take bloom out and the aim assist feels lessened due to the consistent size of the reticle, and players who can't keep up get left behind.

That is why I and other fans of no bloom prefer it.

Controlling bloom isn't a skill, timing is. Bloom requires good timing, not just accuracy. This only handicaps players who are too stubborn or ignorant to pace their shots, even if they are amazingly accurate. It's not like bloom detracts from accuracy and reflexes, it just adds timing to the mix.

Bloom is designed so that if you pace your shots, you should be justly awarded. Slightly higher aim-assist is one of those awards.

I can understand why you prefer it, however you only dislike bloom because it is different, not because it is worse.

That would be great, if bloom worked as intended. As it stand a spammer can win roughly 25% of his battles at mid range against somebody who paces (I can dig up a post on the MLG site where someone worked it all out if needs be).

That means that in the average DMR fight pacing will only be successful 3/4s of the time.

Surely you can see the problem with that as opposed to no bloom where the better shot wins every time?

Bro, I would out dmr you more times by spamming all the way than you would beat me by pacing. Bloom does NOT work.
Only bad players would say that bloom > no bloom.

I disagree with your scenario; if we were of the same skill level and one of us spammed whilst the other paced his shot, the spammer would lose most of the duels. However, like MATCLAN explained to me, a properly working bloom system should guarantee the pacer victory in every duel. Because bloom is not strong enough, its impact and punishment on spammers is minimal.
What you're suggesting is that it is sooo broken it does the opposite of its intent. I believe bloom still works - just to an extent.

Bloom is broken, it's been proven. Bam!

So no bloom.

Not to mention that I don't think I've seen a bloom mechanic that worked in any video game.

Remember its only a game.

I absolutely love the no bloom playlist in Reach. Finally a playlist that awards accuracy.

Hello! I'm a male!

The reason why it is still complained about is because it is only in 1 play list of TU BETA TU ZB Slayer or TU ZB Slayer DMR. It isn't in any objective game types at all. The rest of the playlists got updated to 85% bloom instead of 100% bloom. The only other place that uses ZB is MLG and I'm not a stanby button pressing try hard so I don't play that. :/ So uh yea ...
