Bow-Chicka-Bow-Wow

Wait, I'm a little confused on this SOPA business, as I haven't been paying much attention to it. Will someone care to give me a quick summary?
Will SOPA shut down all user-submitted websites for stopping "Piracy" Or something like that?

Everything will be gone long before me. When the first living thing was born, I was here, waiting. When the last living thing dies, my job is finished. I'll put the chairs on the tables, turn out the lights and lock the universe behind me when I leave.

Bungie should boycott E3!

Even though Bungie doesn't support SOPA/PIPA, the ESA does (Electronic Software Association). Bungie, you've publicly announced you're against SOPA/PIPA. The ESA gets most of it's revenue from E3, so by attending/covering E3, you're indirectly supporting SOPA/PIPA.

How can Bungie be against SOPA? They've been SOPA-ing us on their new IP for oh so long now....

What's gonna happen if Bungie does go to E3, that would mean Bungie supports SOPA?

Agreed. All the changes are good and add variety. Do we really want another Halo 3? Just running around with one gun and no armor abilities? It's good that 343 wants to try something new. Do we really want the same thing for three more games?

Do I really need to say it...?

I've been against this piece of legislature from the very beginning. Glad to see Bungie taking a stand.

Do you know what kind of hat I'm wearing?

A party hat; you don't get one. An honor will this party be, a party in your honor, for your honor. Some of Tfear's personal guards are going to be there. You'll be introduced shortly.

Prepare to die.

The US has never really been good with the whole sentencing thing.

@spaboolly

Thought I would share this article about SOPA and how the gaming industry can better fight piracy. There are some good ideas in here.

You can't get what you want...

...until you know what that is.

sigh

It's like people want to be a hero and start some mass revolution before they think through what could happen if their first step is successful.

  • 01.19.2012 4:54 PM PDT

Well this is certainly going to be interesting.

*sigh* Nope, seems to be fake.

Expressing my strong liberal views without shame. Favorite quotes below:

"Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the the universe."
"One starts to live when he can live outside himself."

Glad to hear it, although not particularly surprised at Bungie's position insomuch as their publicity with it. There is a great video on Youtube which presents the dangers of the bill, right here, as well as the context for SOPA.

However, it seems like, for now at least, the bill is essentially dead. President Obama has said that he does not support the bill, and big Internet Powerhouses like Wikipedia, Facebook, and Google vehemently oppose the legislation as well.

Report. No users have been pulled into this.
Thank god they haven't. I honestly understand why it happened and think it's the right thing to do. If you're going to do something like that... if you can... don't get so damn popular. No, but really, it was an illegal site for sure, and may god have mercy of the souls of the Execs.
