I don't see why anyone is being banned for sopa discussion
its a blatant attack on the net were we have fun. We have to unite against it. While were arguing about wut is within forum rules the bill is gaining more traction

But then again thats just my opinion

As a company who is undoubtedly directly affected by piracy, and who works hard to make the very type of content that people would pirate, why are you against this? To me, that makes no sense.

No solution to piracy is preferable to a poor and ineffective solution to piracy. Especially when said solution has negative side effects.

Because while money is nice its community means more to them?

Also it effects them and there daily lives on the internet to, think about Machinima for a sec how much advertising would that have gave Halo? Thats without Bungie spending millions on it themselves they get it my people playing the game and showing how fun the games are.

Which make them money in the long run. Not every company is greedy.

Thats kinda how I feel. I was banned for creating a SOPA thread a whole back. While it is technically a political issue, it was obvious that my thread was for the good of the community. My hope was to inform people of this impending doom the internet may face. I simply wanted to help, and hated that I was banned.

This is bigger than Bnet, or simple political debate. This is about saving the internet. UNITE!

While we are on the discussion here, does the file share violates the SOPA's principle?

I mean, it's like copy someone's screenshot and save it as their own...

I understand nothing because my life is a conspiracy.

I'll read up on SOPA, but if it effects your games, than I'm against it.

You seem a little uninformed. SOPA sounds like it will just stop piracy, but it wont. It wont stop piracy. All it will do is cripple the internet and negatively affect us all. It will hurt Bnet too, thats why they are against it.

I know its a bit ridiculous. Then again if i speak up to load before i know it ill catch a 7 day in the knee... I think the double standards here are glorious

Also the bill doesn't have a clear "political" side to it. Its really just a internet carpet boom. I think if your guna talk about sopa its under the contex of the constitution which i see as freedom talk not political talk. Mods will right that off as samantics

Might I also say, DeeJ, thank you for creating News threads in the Community Forum. It's where a lot of us tend to be looking. The front page definitely doesn't get as much love as it used to.

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

Good I am glad. Piracy is bad but limiting freedoms on the internet is worse.

Wait, is that why Apoc got banned? That is ridiculously idiotic (if true)!

I agree, though. If Bungie is going to post topics about SOPA (in relation to Bungie itself) in the 'Gon, why can't we?

Does SOPA really change current fair use laws? I haven't read the entire bill (I know I should), but from what I've heard, people who make things like machinima should be fine.

Me not wanting people to steal the things I've worked hard on isn't me being greedy. Bungie not wanting people to steal their content isn't them being greedy either, it dosen't hurt the community who dosen't steal.

Well Microsoft owns everything in Halo, so it wouldn't affect stuff we create in game.

Plus getting someone else's screenshot and passing it off that you made it doesn't really matter, because Microsoft owns it and not you.

Indeed.
Things like red verses blue would not exist if this bill was passed, which would lose bungie alot of publicity.

Because this bill doesn't isn't about piracy nor does it stop it.

Piracy hurts business owners and jobs. Thus it is bad and you don't want it. SOPA stops piracy. Therefore SOPA is good and you want it. That's the very simplified logic many people are following without asking any questions.

Me being the current events junkie that I am it hurts to say thet I am a bit uninformed when it comes to SOPA. From what I have read, the bill is a bit all-encompassing. But then again, people online have a great knack for freaking right the -blam!- out over things they haven't read or don't understand. I don't really know if all the furor is righteous anger at a vague, all encompassing, and damaging bill, or simply a case of "who cares about little things like 'reading the bill' or 'knowing what we're talking about'? LET'S RIOT!!!".

I suspect llamas are secretly wizards. I <3 poptarts n' milk. I like me. Grimick is defined as: a logical parodox, the act of funnaling a potato down your throat, and a deliciously flavored muffin (with pecons and blueberries). Norway is the Swedish word for 'moron'. My sister has cancer, so i get to use handicap parking and cut small children in line at Disneyland.

"Don't eat doughnuts on thin ice."

"The pancake, my friend, has officially been flipped."

Good to know that Bungie opposes SOPA. Just another reason I <3 Bungie!
