NOBODY has been banned for SOPA discussion on this site to date. Period. Back on topic, please, folks.
My mistake, I was warned. I was told if I did it again I'd be banned however.

Also, does Bungie plan on putting that "stop piracy" banner on the front page like Mozilla did?

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

Does Activision (Bungie's publisher) still support SOPA?

I bet if Infinity Ward and Blizzard go against SOPA, Activision as a whole will follow.

I see a few people are uninformed so ill run a quick list of the major issues

Sopa does the following

*Destroys the Safe Harbor Clause

*Increases DNS Resolution times slowing the net within the US and slowing responses to the rest of the world from servers inside the us

*Gives the ability for big companies to kill of new innovation under the veil of anti piracy.

* ( unconfirmed ) Adds another layer of tracking information To the DNS system making manhunts far easier

*Can kill a site with 0 warning under the viel of anti piracy

As a company who is undoubtedly directly affected by piracy, and who works hard to make the very type of content that people would pirate, why are you against this? To me, that makes no sense.
You seem a little uninformed. SOPA sounds like it will just stop piracy, but it wont. It wont stop piracy. All it will do is cripple the internet and negatively affect us all. It will hurt Bnet too, thats why they are against it.

Me being the current events junkie that I am it hurts to say thet I am a bit uninformed when it comes to SOPA. From what I have read, the bill is a bit all-encompassing. But then again, people online have a great knack for freaking right the -blam!- out over things they haven't read or don't understand. I don't really know if all the furor is righteous anger at a vague, all encompassing, and damaging bill, or simply a case of "who cares about little things like 'reading the bill' or 'knowing what we're talking about'? LET'S RIOT!!!".

Big companies wouldn't come out against the bill without thorugh research into it. If they're not happy about it, surely you must realise there is a problem.

This pleases me.

I kind of assumed that Bungie would oppose SOPA, but confirmation is always good.

C'mon, man. It's Activision-Blizzard we're talking about, Palpatine's galactic empire of the video game world with Kotick at the helm. IW and Bungie could have a "Stop SOPA" cakewalk down Pennsylvania Avenue, and it wouldn't make a lick of difference.

Read the bill please.

Attorney General has to make a large effort to inform the infringing site before passing action.

I'm fine with Bungie's point of view - but don't propagate lies.

That is in the event they want a DNS block
They can chock funding away with barely any legal duties and watch the website struggle to stay afloat

They wrote loopholes into it on purpose

When I grow up, I want to be just like goofenhour.

I'm guessing this is going to be the only allowed political thread ever on Bnet. But I'm pretty sure anyone who goes on the internet agrees that SOPA is just crippling the first amendment. I'm glad to see Bungie taking a stance on it.

...Interesting.

Kick start a craze

This being posted just made this birthday awesome. Screw SOPA and long live Bungie.

Speaking of chuckles, let's all lol at IonicPaul, who makes friends with bugs to make up for his lack of human contact.

It's pretty scary, the possibility of SOPA getting passed, with a lot of bad collateral. Like Hylebos said, Bungie isn't settling for a bad solution to a problem. That makes me incredibly proud to be a Bungie fan.

Sadly unless companies such as Google, Facebook and YouTube go down to stop the bill, it will probably pass :(

Nothing will ever stop piracy, SOPA at least attempts to stop it at a foreign level. Something which current legislation can not.
