It is a "weapon" yet it speaks of everything coming together for unity and wisdom?

Makes.no.sense.

It makes sense. The Flood want unity. Because no one wants to join them willingly they resort to force. Remember we are dealing with the Flood here; they are about as alien as a species can get. Their idea of morality could be vastly different from ours.

That wouldn't make them a weapon though. And it seems that some races have joined them willingly. I feel like there are deeper philosophical and political elements to this we can comprehend yet.

They are not used as a weapon but as a form of education or assimilation. A totally different thing than a weapon. For us it will look like a weapon but for the creator it is not.

I could agree with that notion.

Do not waste your tears, I was not born to watch the world grow dim. Life is not measured in years, but by the deeds of men.

We should know better, because we are better.

I could agree with that notion.

Hence my statement that the Floods view on morality is vastly different from ours.

Or our view is really primitive

Which is touched upon heavily in the LoveCraft works.

Eh, Halo seems a bit less Lovecraft inspired then, say, Marathon.

The aliens races encountered in halo are not beyond our comprehension in any way. In fact, they behave quite a bit like humans.

Elites are similar to a weird mix of an alligator to a horse.

What I mean is that mentally, they are very similar. The Mi-Go in Lovecraft's works had completely different moral codes than humans, to the point where they could not be comprehended. They had different emotions and weren't even made of matter in the way humans were.

The moral codes of the alien societies in Halo resemble older, human societies.

The only alien race in Lovecraft's works that somewhat resembled humans in thought were the Elder Things, and they were wiped out.

I was comparing the precursor races to Lovecraft. Since they seem to have a different meaning for "Sweetness" than we do.
