Auto mute is in. If you don't have one on you go play MLG. Mute ban is for cool people only.

RC Clone is the anti-thesis of a lurker.

It's called a mute ban and Bungie added it because they want everyone to party chat.

No they wanted to make multiplayer feel like solo gameplay so it was practically a second campaign. The idea was to add a nostalgia value by making it seem like an older FPS - plotless and awesome.

They really failed at conveying the awesome part.

Mute ban was itroduced because there were some annoying people who were just trolling. it wasnt introduced because you had to party chat or it had to feel like a "solo gameplay" why would there be game chat if that was the intention.

Game chat is for team players who want to communicate with their team. mute ban is for people who want to piss their team off.

Anyone that plays a bit of MLG is mute banned
Play against 2 full teams in BTB in a row and you have a good shot at a mute ban.
Have a non US accent = mute ban
Talk a different language = mute ban
get invited to a party of 13 guys that all mute you instantly = mute ban

Mute bans are permanent.

Tell me why any of the above cases deserve it.

  • 01.14.2012 6:35 AM PDT

i dont say they deserve it! i only say you'll get mute banned if you are annoying or if you play MLG.

why would they do that

The mute ban is retarded. I don't need bungies flawed system to hold my hand and mute people who may or may not be unfairly mute banned just for playing certain competitive playlists. If I find someone annoying I'll mute them myself.

Yes there is a "auto mute" feature or being "mute banned". Its unnecessary, pointless and rather annoying.

You get mute banned for having "x" amount of players mute you.

No one knows how long it lasts or how you get unbanned but people speculate its simply after "x" amount of people unmute you.

Because they can, nothing is preventing them from doing it.

i c, cause i had my whole team trying to communicate to me the other day and didnt notice till i died that they were muted.
so i unmute every one from now on who is automatically muted. though its kinda tedious to keep doing every game.
