If Destiny is Terrible, Will You Stay?

If Destiny, whatever it may be, turns out to be an awful, failure of a game, will you stay a loyal Bungie fan and still frequent the forums?

Personally, I honestly think that I would visit these forums very, very rarely if Bungie did ever manage to screw up Destiny. I'm not doubting them whatsoever. I have the upmost respect for Bungie, and think whatever they're cooking up will blow all of our tiny little minds. However, there is always a possibility.

If Destiny is terrible, will you stay?

Key

If it's terrible, I'll be blaming DeeJ.

Then, if DeeJ isn't fired within a year after release I'll leave.

I'm here right now, am I not?

Destiny could only give me more reasons to come to Bnet.

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

A Bungie Game terrible?

Blasphemy...

Whether you're here now is irrelevant to my question. If Destiny fails, will you stay here?

You've confused me.

If Destiny is terrible, I will tear the game apart. I might or might not still be a fan of Bungie, but I'll probably still visit the forums.

  • 01.14.2012 2:45 PM PDT

Yes, there're too many numbers in my name.

Well, let me start off by saying that's it's extremely unlikely Destiny will be terrible. And this assumption is based on the fact that every game Bungie has ever made has been a success. But of course this is still my mere opinion, so I wouldn't know how to answer for the whole population of players who would play Destiny.

But let's hypothetically say that Destiny is terrible. The harm is loosing a large chunk of your fan base, your profit, and credibility among the game developer community.

The benefits? A heightened enlightenment on what people want today. A mistake is only another demographic of people pointing to where you should be going. And if Bungie fails this project, they would at least know to not continue with it.

Of course, it's still very unlikely this will be a failure.

And the other question you proposed. Will I stay? Well of course I'll stay! This is still the company that produced the most cherished games of the 21st century, isn't it? That'd be like seeing Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, believing it to be bad, and therefore deciding to never see another Spielberg film again.

Besides, the lore is like none other. I mean, what other company has a severed dog head in a jar? Or a systematic algorithmic procedure for peacefully extinguishing trouble-makers in the community portal, by the use of Ninja's? I'll tell you who, nobody. That's why I would stay.

Oh and by the way, I am expecting a lot of these.

Who the hell do you think I am?

Of course I will stay. And I'm sure bungie is going to do a great job with Destiny.

None of this rubbish, please. There is always a chance.

I lol'd at the absurd miscommunication that occurs whenever dibbs post something. Perhaps his brain is so highly evolved that he can no longer clearly communicate with lesser life forms, even among his own species.

Reach was terrible and yet here I am.

As a whole Bungie is a great company with great people. The forums don't have much of the same characteristics, but there's enough amusement to keep me occupied.

There is no possible way it can be terrible.

Even if Bungie does lead me off a cliff, I'm sure they'll have a nice little net near the bottom to catch me :)

To Be Honest, i would very rarely come to Bungie.net if Destiny is a failure.

Ready are you? What know you of ready? For eight hundred years have I trained Jedi. My own council will I keep on who is to be trained. A Jedi must have the deepest commitment, the most serious mind. This one a long time have I watched. All his life has he looked away... to the future, to the horizon. Never his mind on where he was. Hmm? What he was doing. Hmph. Adventure. Heh. Excitement. Heh. A Jedi craves not these things. You are reckless.” -Yoda

There is a very very very very SLIM chance that Destiny will be a horrible game and go on the movie game scale. But we all know that won't happen.

Didact's Reprisal -
Now is the time of our unworlding
One final effort is all that remains
And I am not afraid
We shall fulfill our promise
We fight for the grace of the Mantle
And this time none of you will be left behind

I think the question should be "If you have to hear the community rage against Bungie games and call them horrible 5 times in a row, will you stay?"

Because that's a very good question. First, I got to hear that Halo 2 was horrible by the community. Then Halo 3. Followed by ODST. And now Reach. I am getting tired of their foolishness..

Agreed.

Every game has been "terrible". While each has always sold better and better.

The big change with Destiny though is that it's not piggybacking on the established franchise Halo was so if a person didn't like it they're far less likely to stick with it because, unlike Halo, there were games in the past from the same series they dreamed Bungie would remake and call it a sequel.

Quite frankly if I don't like the Destiny series I'll probably stick around less since their new flagship franchise wouldn't be to my liking but I see little chance of that. The only time Bungie has gone astray in my eyes were when they listen too much to the bad, unsatisfiable part of the community. Each game's been either good or great.

smart, interesting, seems out of place.

Official fan of Assassin's Creed, Call of Duty, (Problem with that?) Halo, and Bungie, also a total gaming junkie.

Will I continue buying Bungie games? Hell no, two massive failures in a row would be too much for me.

Will I leave Bungie.net? I've devoted almost 2 years to this site, theres no way I'm leaving.

A "failure"? I thought Reach was a great game, it had a lot of cool new things in it.

I think a "failure" game is one that is like unplayable. Reach has a lot of great features.

If hearing opinions contrary to your own is such a nuisance, God knows why you would spend time on an internet forum.
