"To me, a nice triple kill with the sniper is infinitely more impressive than any Living Dead Killionaire"
Does flaming people on forums count as an esport?
I'm a commendation/achievement/statistics freak.

OP, I think I have an answer.
Back when I was a Captain and below and played exclusively team slayer (April-May 2011) I was terrible with a DMR and would often be killed by it. This caused me to dislike "Slayer DMRs" and vote more often for "Slayer". I went 12-9 or so every game, and was happy. Then one day I started playing Arena, where every game has DMR/AR starts. Back in that time Arena was full of retards from TS, so most of them prefered the AR. Around that time was when I realized the DMR is a superior weapon to the AR in all ways . I started using it more and more, learning to time my shots and learning headshot strategies.I then learned a strafe, and now I consider myself an above average DMR.
Because of this, I think that many below average players with negative KD's like AR starts more because it is easier to trade kills with an AR. To someone with a good 1.91 KD like me, trading kills is infuriating and I despise it. But to someone like that, an AR kill might be the only kill they can get, so they are perfectly happy to get in an AR fight with someone, barely kill them without being killed, and be gunned down by one of my nearby teammates who gets a near-free kill.
In short, bad players like AR starts because it lowers the skill gap and allows for easier kill trading (which is what they want since their KD is below 1).
AR starts on Anchor 9 are playable and somewhat fun actually. Highlands though, is a different story altogether especially with the sniper rifle.
