Well, i also remember that humans have an advantage. AI. The covenant made an attempt, but it failed to defeat cortana. Cortana also increased the efficiency of covenant weapons by 90% when they took over the Covenant ship in FIrst Strike

WRONG! The Covenant have AIs. f you read the books, you will know Cortana had to defeat a self-replicating AI aboard the Ascendant Justice.

I think (been a while since I read the books) that the covenant AI's were incredibly basic. Then there was one far more advanced than any of the others, which led me to believe it could in fact be a forerunner AI.

I dont remmeber there being a Forerunner AI, which part of the book was it?

@Spartan117atHalo: He says that the Covies had an AI. Read his post.

And the MC didn't destroy squat. It was the SPARTANs plus two fleshbags inside a spaceship. And they destroyed a freakin' huge station and ~100 Covie ships (including supercarriers, etc.).

And once again...

The fact that the Covenant can use plasma as a weapon is proof of the technological advantage over Humans. Sure, Cortana made their weapons 90% more efficient in that one scene from one of the books, but that was a "simple" and "logical" improvement. The Covenant understand some things humans don't; humans understand some things that the Covenant don't. What Cortana did was improve, not create. =P

We dont know what Bungie is going to show us. They gave us a trailer but who knows, that trailer may come from halfway through the game for all we know.

oh and that was way more than 300 ships guarding High Charity. We know because in First Strike the Unyielding Hierophant was surrounded by around 500 ships, and in the level Regret in Halo 2, Cortana says (when High Charity jumps in system) that its the largest covenant fleet shed ever seen.

Also, in First Strike, if i remember correctly, it references the defense around High Charity to being so tight that no rock larger than a meter could get through without being vaporized.

Id say 600-700 ships give or take, surroud High Charity. Say that just over half of those are Brute Controlled, so with the forerunner vessel you send about 400 ships with it, and that overmatches the 300 orbital guns with ease. The Covenant could fire one volley and destroy all the guns.

All i know is Halo 3 is gonna be Incredible.

No matter what you do in life, you will disappoint someone.
No matter what you say, you will offend someone.
No matter what you think, someone will think you're an idiot.

Find and eliminate these people.

It was never called a forerunner AI, that's simply my guess. It was the only AI cortana had any trouble with, the only advanced AI.

True, but let me defend myself with another example

How do you explain that Keys destroyed aound 4 covenant ships, i think it was like 3 crusiers and a Capital ship or something with just one UNSC Frigate? I think that the humans have 3 advantages: 1) Efficiency 2)Tactics 3)AI

Keyes was a great captain. There are some humans that are great fighters such as the MC, but for the most part, the humans cant take on the covenant.

No. Humans have one adantage: Tactics
the covenant have better weapons and ships by far. as for AIs...fine, they're an advantage too.

Yes, tactics are a very big advantage for humans. Most of the time in the books the covenant will move head on at the enemy, and only wait till they have alread fired their MAC gun before trying to evade.

It acted more like a covenant AI, because it called Cortana an infidel.

Keyes was regarded as a brillaint tactical genius. His Keyes Loop had him loop around a much larger Covenant Cruiser while being tailed by a Shiva nuke.

Believe me, that kind of genius (or suicidal tendency) doesn't occur in all humans, or we'd still be fighting World War One. Or maybe even a much more primeval war.

If all humans were that smart...we wouldn't be fighting.

WWI was cigar butt strategy. I think we should give keys more credit than that.

But your right. Not every Human has a mind like Keys. Still, i think the Human race as a whole has better strategical tendencies that the covenant.

good point their ppl i mean in first strike that covenant battle station had 500 ships so for cortana to say in halo 2 just before we kill regret that thats the largest covenant fleet anyone has ever seen. that seem very logical but keep in mind the games and books(it says that the books continue the story of the award winning xbox game but they don't seem follow eachother)don't seem to agree with eachother. so for all we knw maybe there were 300 ships. only bungie can answer this question.

I think there were like...12 ships at the beginning of Halo 2.

Captain Keyes was able to take out so many Covenant ships with superior tactics, namely the "Keyes Loop" which used the plasma torpedoes against their own ships.

Humans not only have superior tactics, and AI's, they have the ability to improve upon any technology they find. The MJLONIR armor shields are based on a Jackal’s shield, and vastly improved upon.

Covenant only have the ability to use what's inside an Engineer’s head.

Bearing that in mind, Earth's forces are pritty screwed. Most of the fleet was destroyed in the Fall of Reach. And even though one MAC platform can take out a Covenant carrier in orbit, they have a problem when trying to shoot back at their own planet.
