Subject: Bleed through makes gameplay less enjoyable :(

Being an avid fan of multi team, there are many 1v1 encounters which result in the other player sprinting in for a melee. now before the TU they could AR their little hearts out and melee and id only lose my shield. but after the TU, it takes 6 AR shots and a melee to kill a person with full health and full shield. 6 AR shots. thats holding down a trigger for less than half a second then meleeing and winning the kill.

Playing the game since its release, i still find it almost impossible to use that kind of tactic to earn a kill. We spawn with weapons and i use weapons to earn kills. My question is not for the casual gamers that im sure whined endlessly on these forums to get bleed through into the game, but its aimed at reach players that actually know the mechanics of this FPS and probably geared more towards those to play in playlists where the melee bleed through is a dominate factor(like multi team). and my question to you guys who play this game as much as i do is what are your feelings on bleed through? do you exploit it to get faster kills? do you avoid melee kills at all costs unless guests are exploiting it?

On a side note, does anyone else rage at the lag involved in any playlist where a faster reaction time is no longer rewarded with a kill but instead becomes a trade with both players dying? simple examples that ive noticed when i look back at games include sniping someone in the head, and that player is able to stay alive 5 more frames, and shoot 2 AR shots after he should of died. or in swat when you kill someone and the animation starts but there are enough frames for them to shoot after youve already earned the headshot for their kill and they kill you. and finally using evade against someone who uses sword. they can be more than 5m away from me, and i will evade backwards, be 10 frames away from finishing my evade animation, then with their slow reaction time, they will press melee and because of the disgusting lag, they dont lunge at me but they still earn my kill from over 15m away. Does anyone else feel cheated by things like that? or have their own situations where its apparent you have a faster reaction time but still died when you shouldn't have?

tl;dr read it(:

Fhtagn

Melee is a legit tactic, adapt. It's true though, that the melee bleedthrough is too big.

-blam!- YES.

ive HATED the TU playlist since it came out, it makes the game horrible and nearly impossible to have a good time. The Anny (minus TU game types) i have found to be fun. The problem that 343 had when making this TU is that they tried to make Reach like H3, which we all know, H3 did not have a standard health system (H1 and Reach) it had the regenerative health, which made it easier to heal up. I have always been a big defender of reach, even with that mass banning back in last May, though 343 made things worse with the TU, if it wasnt for the Anny maps, I probably would have sold my Reach, more money towards ME3 CE, lets hope 343 steps it up in H4. Though if they add TU settings to Rumble Pit and Invasion, forget it im done with Reach!!!

indeed, if it were a once or twice moment, I would be fine with that, but evergame, even with the flag/bomb/ball against sword.....oh well

I always exploit the bleed-through. Honestly, if you don't, you'll regret it. I enjoy bleed-through. However, I would also enjoy melee being toned down a bit. I can understand that if a dude can flip over a tank, then him swinging a gun at you is definitely going to hurt. I'm with you, Specops0980. If they add Title Update to invasion, then I'm done.

the couple times where i said the hell with it and experimented with using AR + melee, i picked up an overkill by doing the same thing to each player coming at me. yea i could exploit it but i wouldnt feel like ive accomplished anything. some people can but for some reason i have to feel like im improving my gameplay over the years and tactics like that made me feel like im not improving anything. hah and yea i agree with people complaining that they wanted reach to feel more like h3 and so updates that have no place in this FPS were implemented. such a shame. im hoping they get their act together when h4 comes out too. i do not want to start up h4 and be sadface the first day when i realize the crap they put into it so killing become cod style >.< thats something ive always enjoyed about reach, the fact that earning a kill takes time and skill. the ar melee or melee nade n00b combos, although ALWAYS effective just dont make gameplay as fun as it COULD be

Hey, uh, if you like vs threads, then check out this little group right here, if you have the time. It's pretty fun, just hop right in.

Oh hey I can post again.

Anywho, it's a matter of opinion, though I have to agree that bleedthrough is stupid.

bungie has proven that a bunch of monkeys sitting in front of keyboards can randomly type out a masterpiece. the thing is, when you go to play the masterpiece, you cant help but notice all the monkey s**t smeared all over it.

it gets real old having to wait months for someone like mlg to clean off all the monkey poo.

bleedthrough is amazing. it always has been. buffing melees with damage canceling shields in lolreach was the worst idea since the original worst idea, ar starts.

unlike lolreach you no longer have to worry that your punch will cancel your gun damage. no more guesswork as to whether your punch will do 100% damage or 1%.

the winning strategy with no bleed is to land a punch before your shields broke, but with bleed through you no longer have those invisible extra shields canceling their gunfire as you saunter up to them and will now die a deserved death if you try to crossmap them with your fist.

Is the problem really with bleed through or is it with melee? It takes two bashes to kill somebody. One, two, and that's it. I think that's -blam!- stupid. Think about it, if it actually took about three melee's to kill somebody instead of two, do you think the bleed through would be a problem?

As for the lag: a friend of mine has been complaining about it recently when playing Halo. He has a pretty good connection and never used to say anything before about a couple weeks ago. I, personally, haven't noticed anything but that's probably because I already have a pretty bad connection. There's always been about a half a second delay between when I get the final kill-shot on somebody and when they die. That half a second can make a big difference and it is annoying.

I don't have much of a problem with melee bleedthrough. But in all honesty, I avoid CQC at all costs.

Life is a journey, if you spend all of it with your nose in your map, you may miss some of the best parts.

Anniversary's Melee damage is much more acceptable. It makes melees essentially useless unless the opponent has very low shields or one shot.

Same here. I only pull out my AR when I'm too lazy to reload my magnum.

You're like a slinky. Good for nothing, but you bring a smile to my face when I push you down the stairs.

Wait, so the TU makes the AR like Halo 3's?

sweeeeeet

Forget it man, and get with the countdown. Shake this square world and blast off for Kicksville.

Reach host ranking algorithm: (a*quit_percentage + b*isMexican + c*(1/KDR) + d*hasGuest) * 100
where a > b = d > c

Bleedthrough is great.

The glitches are not.

No, bleeedthrough makes AR rushers less enjoyable. Overall, bleedthrough makes sense and is great for gameplay.
