I think that you should be able to give Marines / allies a list of simple commands: hit the dirt (grenade), hold fire (stealth), fire at will, hold position, follow me, go here.

The way it works: Marines / allies run off their own AI unless you choose to give them commands, so this feature is completely optional. Quit your -blam!-in'.

TO SELECT A MARINE:
>aim at him/her and hit the BACK button.

TO SELECT EVERY NEARBY MARINE:
>hit the BACK button without aiming near one.

ONCE MARINE(S) IS SELECTED:
>push R to order FIRE AT WILL
>push L to order HIT THE DIRT (warn GRENADE)
>push A to order FOLLOW ME
>push X to order HOLD FIRE
>push Y to order GO TO MY RETICLE (aim reticle at a weapon on the ground to have them pick it up)
>push B to cancel

No, this will not take a long time and could be done during combat with only a split second delay. And no, it will still be a FPS, not purely tactical. This is unobtrusive and purely optional to use. What are your thoughts?

No. That's not what Halo's about.

Yes, this would make the game much more interesting in a lot of different circumstances, and the marines could still run on their own AI if you didn't want to take the time to use the feature, so all in all, if theres room for it to be added, would make a good feature.

Yes, that would be cool.

Frank O'Connor is a 12-year veteran of the videogame magazine industry and has therefore never worked an honest day in his life.

They already addressed that it was a high on the list to fix. and they say it's awesome.

Then what is halo about? That would be pretty cool in my opinion.

It might be a bit...uncomfortable. You know? In the middle of all the action, stoping and hitting "back" and then "r" or something would really slow things down. Though a TCI would be really cool, I think Bungie did a good enough job on the AI. If H3 did have a TCI though, the D-Pad would work fine for me.

Whats the point in a complicated interface anyway? Instead of making us press all these buttons they could just do voice commands for the headset. Besides, the only command I've ever felt the need for was "Stay RIGHT HERE until I get back."

Press the F button for, "Gimme your -badword- weapon, or your -badword- life"
I voted YES

Voice recognition software is very sensitive and unreliable.

Does every 360 have a microphone anyway? Besides, I see no harm in giving the BACK button a purpose in Campaign, since it doesn't have one now.
