Halo 2 > Halo 3 > Halo 3 ODST > Halo Reach > Halo CE

Based on campaigns.

If I post a thread in the Reach forum and it doesnt get much attention, is it against the rules to post it again in the Flood forum?

  • 01.15.2012 1:54 PM PDT

If it is relevant in both forums I'd say it would be okay, but if it is just reposting it because it was ignored the first time you might have a problem.

Yes, there're too many numbers in my name.

The reason there are multiple forums is because there're multiple topics of discussion. The Halo: Reach forum is for the discussion of Halo: Reach, and the Flood forum is for the discussion of everything except Halo: Reach.

If you post the exact same topic in both forums, chances are you'd be in a little trouble.

The Flood is OFF-TOPIC though, I would guess that would be lockable.

Old school Bungie, born and raised,
In the Septagon is where I spend most of my days.
Relaxin', maxin', posting all cool,
Talking about Halo, life and some school.
Got in one little argument, and the mods got scared,
they said "You're gonna get banned and your member title'll be bare!"

Eh. That's kind of darkish grey area. It probably will be taken on a case-by-case basis.

Well technically if you were allowed to do, people would just post the same topics in every forum. Which would only increase spam.

However, I guess if the thread belongs in both forums it would be allowed (example: a topic could belong in the Reach and Universe forum).

“Strange,” mused the Director, as they turned away, “strange to think that even in Our Ford’s day most games were played without more apparatus than a ball or two and a few sticks and perhaps a bit of netting. imagine the folly of allowing people to play elaborate games which do nothing whatever to increase consumption.”

The Black Chapter!

If it fits into the Reach forum, then by very definition it has no place in the flood.

It matters if it does or doesn't belong there, I think.

Hi there! be sure to click that homepage link!

No one has brought this up before because if you posted something in two forums, it's most likely one of them is off topic.

If they were both relevent somehow, then I don't know.

Its just that I have seen a lot of Halo topics in the Flood that havent been locked

Also, the thread isnt really relevant to Reach specificly, but to Halo in general

Who the hell do you think I am?

Yes, if the moderaters do catch you I believe they could ban you for something like.... spam? I'm not too sure.

What you describe is called cross-posting and is, generally, frowned heavily upon.

Scenario tiem!

Let's say you want to post a thread. But you want to post it in 2 forums at once at its beginning.

OH NO YOU DON'T

I'd personally lock one of them, leaving the more appropriately-placed one in the more-approprite forum, if I were to spot it as a ninja.

Let's say you posted a thread a few months ago that has since disappeared off the face of the planet and suffered the wrath of the archive system, but you decide you want to talk about it again and post it in a different forum (that still happens to be relevant to it).

k.

I would be very surprised if anyone noticed or cared. Threads have a lifespan of discussional worth to them, and so generally if a thread fails or dies out the first time, it's going to do the same thing the next time. It's actually part of why so many reposts tend to exist, especially in this forum.

Basically: look, Bungie designed the forums so that different topics would be separated by their category. Posting them in multiple forums goes entirely against this design and is entirely redundant. It's not so much that it's horrendously against the rules as much as it is just dumb.

Trying something once will increace your chances of success, because you tried it. Try someting twice, and your chances increase yet again - seeing as you've done it. Try something a few thousand times, and your chances of success is exponentially increased; this increase would likely provide success every time

I suspect llamas are secretly wizards. I <3 poptarts n' milk. I like me. Grimick is defined as: a logical parodox, the act of funnaling a potato down your throat, and a deliciously flavored muffin (with pecons and blueberries). Norway is the Swedish word for 'moron'. My sister has cancer, so i get to use handicap parking and cut small children in line at Disneyland.

"Don't eat doughnuts on thin ice."

"The pancake, my friend, has officially been flipped."

I guess it really depends on the topic.

Disclaimer: The latter is a lie.

I don't have a clue, to be honest. PM a mod and/or employee.

Nah, you'd probably get banned for that. The Flood is for discussion that doesn't have a place in any of the other forums, so if your thread belongs in the Reach forum, that's the only place you can post it without getting in trouble.

  • 01.15.2012 4:35 PM PDT

I personally would consider it as spam if you are going to be posting it all over the forums. If it doesn't get as much attention in the forum you posted it then it probably won't anywhere else. That's my opinion.

  • 01.15.2012 4:36 PM PDT

The Flood isn't for Halo topics.

Last time that happened, there was a huge forum war. But I'm pretty sure some idiot from the Flood started it by pretending to be from the Reach forums.

Anywho: I'd just contact a mod, have them lock the thread you don't want, then create a new one in the Flood.
