Haters are going to hate.
Praisers are going to praise.
The Bungie Forums are what keeps my mind sharp and my fingers active, between writing my own movie scripts, drawing, and studying industrial design. At the moment I'm working on miniatures for a short movie that I'll hopefully be able to film once I've saved up for a camera... That's me, with the mug, trying to have a conversation with Konoko.

Ok big news people...
Latest News - BIG NEWS, confirms Destiny is like Halo
Just one snippet that confirms it's like Halo:
He also gathers that the general consensus from others is that Destiny is "still quite like Halo" and "there is a lot of work still to be done". And he concludes with a confirmation of an old rumour that the project previous condemned "Tiger" is now referred to as "Destiny".
Snippet about gameplay and no dedicated servers:This is not a dedicated server game, but there is some simulation and coordination running in their server infrastructure. The game was up and down a lot, playing in a team of 3 we did manage to experience entering a zone to find other players already taking on the bad guys, it's cooperative so we helped out (mostly [name removed], I just died) before both groups went their separate ways. Which is a pretty cool experience, making you feel you are part of a much larger populated world.
...At the end of the day I was excited about the game, I like the feel of being in a large world with different destinations and the interactions along the way. It actually brought back a sense of exploration I recall from playing [Elite] many years ago, although there was no opportunity to shoot aliens in the face in Elite. I'm not fully sold on the appeal of being able to change the colour of a weapon, but I guess it works in China, and customisation and individual identity is a big theme for the game.
As I expected. From this it seems that Destiny will be as much of a natural evolution of Halo, as Halo was to Marathon. I'm still excited; don't think it'll be boring just cause they didn't go all out and change direction completely, it'll most likely have enough new features to impress. Bungie's cinematic style and writing will be enough to keep me aboard. Would have wanted it to take a step closer to Oni in terms of melee combat and acrobatics though.
Marathon/Durandal, Halo/Cortana, Destiny/Joyeuse.
Maybe after or during this holy trinity of SF shooters, they'll make something that changes the formula.
