One does not choose a destiny, his destiny is bestowed, shaped and formed, from the soul.

Well not that you guys care I was just wondering

I've been writing a nice book in the halo universe during my spare time and everyone that I've shared it with seems to feel it's legit

But I don't know what to do with or If its even legal to publish it so can I send it in to bungie, microsoft or 343 to help me or what

Just wondering

Well, if it's about Halo, don't send it to Bungie. You'll probably need to get some guy from 343 to approve. Then you need to find a publisher.

P.S. I don't think this is the right forum.

If I am not posting, then I am reading what you might have posted.

Why would you want to send it to them anyways?

“Oh, it’s a little bit of everything, it’s the mountains, it’s the fog, it’s the news at six o’clock, it’s the death of my first dog, it’s the angels up above me, it’s the song that they don’t sing, It’s a little bit of everything.”
- Dawes, A little bit of everything

Folks in the Universe forum might be of some help on the subject. All I know is this, there seems to already be a lot of fan fiction out there, so I doubt there's much of a legal issue. Publishing to a blog or online with a small disclaimer that the work is based off of a video game by Bungie and published by Microsoft Game Studios should be fine.

Meh, I'm not a lawyer.

EDIT: To clarify, from my understanding, there is a significant difference between publishing a novel through a publisher and printing and all that is significantly different than posting on a blog or fan-fic site. I don't know much more, but I hope this was at least helpful in some way.

I suspect llamas are secretly wizards. I <3 poptarts n' milk. I like me. Grimick is defined as: a logical parodox, the act of funnaling a potato down your throat, and a deliciously flavored muffin (with pecons and blueberries). Norway is the Swedish word for 'moron'. My sister has cancer, so i get to use handicap parking and cut small children in line at Disneyland.

"The pancake, my friend, has officially been flipped."

Haha! Im on time for this one.

Sell it to the chinese.

Srsly though? Maybe send a letter to 343 or something :/

Because the halo brand I guess you would say is copyrighted so I would have to ask for permission and all this legal stuff

Actually, as long as there is a disclaimer and you are not making any money off of it you should be able to post it online. To earn royalties on it you need permission from microsoft first.

Edit ^
Because the Chinese don't care about copyright. Problem is they can't read it...

Have you seen my mind anywhere? I seem to have lost it...

x0x 0x0 0x0 0xx 000 0x0 000
x0x x0x x00 0xx 0x0 x0x 0x0

I have seen you future

Just publish it as fan-fiction. There's loads of that out there, but if it is good you can get some recognition for it (not necessarily official). The people who wrote the official Halo novels were contracted to write them, so there is a huge chance you won't make money off your submission.

I`m not entirely clear on the question this thread is posing? Do you want to publish the book yourself, in order to profit on it, or do you merely want to send it in for them to enjoy?

If it's the first one, then simply put it up as fanfiction. Unfortunately your not going to make any money on it, such is the nature of fanfiction.

Sending a letter to 343 won't do anything copyright wise. The halo brand belongs to the publisher (Microsoft) not the developer (as they have demonstrated). As far as turning a prophet goes, I wouldn't expect much. Between microsoft, the book's publisher, distributers, and retail stores you will likely only make a royalty of about 10 cents per copy sold. So if you plan on making this a goal, make sure you are in it for reasons besides money. I'm not saying not to do it, just to keep that in mind.

I'm in it for recognition more than money, though it would be nice, would it be cool if I but a little bit of a page up on here, like a thread with it

Either way, I think you should send me a copy, you certainly got me interested.

Oh yes, post it in the gallery for sure. Wait, are we still putting halo content into the gallery? I don't know if that is allowed anymore. Hopefully yes.

It takes place on reach (I know it's not to original)

But in the perspective of a group of civilians in their fight for survival during the invasion

Post both positive and negative feed back either way it'll help me

6 days into the invasion of reach

Characters: Andrew, Noah, John, Christian, Michael and Wallace

This part takes place inside a city called Artemis, a city in ruins

Andrew: Where's Wallace ?

Noah: He went out looking for food, those bastards took all we had, we couldn't do anything.

Andrew: Are you serious! Why the he'll didn't you fight them, do something, Do you not understand how screwed we are!

Noah: He had a god damn gun! what the hell am I supposed to do! take one for the team? You making this -blam!- harder for us, for god sake we both know what happened to Christian,

Andrew: Don't put that on me! Im not the one who gave him a gun and let him kill himself! That his fault he couldn't take it he-

(door opens)

Wallace: There's no food, no water, nothing. Just bodies and rubble

(Wallace looks at Andrew)

Wallace: what Happened...Dont tell me someone else gave up!

Andrew: No! We are all here. Have you heard anything from Michael and Luke?

Wallace: No. Haven't seen them since-

(an explosion is heard in the distance)

Andrew: Get into the shelter get the shotgun and stay with Noah.

Noah: don't tell me your going to look for them! They could still be out there.

Andrew: And if they are?

Noah: then that pistol won't save you from -blam!- and you'll die like the others!

Andrew: I'm not losing another person! I won't live know that Michael-

( door is slammed open )

Micahel: Guys we got to go!

Wallace: what happe-

Michael: Shut the hell up! Listen to me we have to get out before they-

(the room went white, ears went deaf, blue lines and a light blue light emitted from the center of the room, and a burning sinsation consumed my body)

End

Thoughts and should I keep going so you can understand more clearly

That was my first draft of the story once I actually got into the rhythm you could feel the stress and I eventually gave it good backing

Ready are you? What know you of ready? For eight hundred years have I trained Jedi. My own council will I keep on who is to be trained. A Jedi must have the deepest commitment, the most serious mind. This one a long time have I watched. All his life has he looked away... to the future, to the horizon. Never his mind on where he was. Hmm? What he was doing. Hmph. Adventure. Heh. Excitement. Heh. A Jedi craves not these things. You are reckless.” -Yoda
