Subject: Moderators, i appeal to you.

Why not just make it that MLP hate threads are insta lock.

Let people talk about there ponies if they want but enough of the flame wars...

(note i am not a brony and have never watched MLP in my life, I just don't like flame wars)

Who the hell do you think I am?

I can't believe that thread lasted so long. I mean come on, it's a 28 page MLP thread, and not a single mod suspects that anyone would be violating the rules some how? That thread was nothing but flaming, and it was ridiculous.

I say from now on, any MLP thread should be locked instantly without any question, AND have there be a possibility that the OP get banned for attempting to start a flame war.

I don't get the flaming.

I think everyone just needs to calm down and listen to this song.

"You build on failure. You use it as a stepping stone. Close the door on the past. You don't try to forget the mistakes, but you don't dwell on it. You don't let it have any of your energy, or any of your time, or any of your space." -Johnny Cash

I think that it's a subject that creates some major conflicts within the community, so I wouldn't mind it if the MLP threads were against the forum rules.

If they are not harming anyone or breaking rules, than their is nothing wrong.

Yeah, but if you were to be a newbie to the forums, browsed the rules and saw "No My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic discussion is permitted," you'd probably be a little confused.

They encourage nothing other then flaming. They're wastes of space - nothing is ever achieved in these threads. No worthy discussion comes out of these threads.

I believe you are referring to ALL the flood.

  • 01.16.2012 9:03 AM PDT

Key

1. Yes. My Little Pony is just a hipsters escape into the entertainment world of a 3 year old. Liking it as a grown-ass-man/young adult is ridiculous.

2. It's Off-Topic.

3. It should be allowed in the Flood.

I just saw a green monkey nut shot a small tan lizard(?) in a gunny sack.

From what I've seen, MLP threads are usually created to attract flamers, so that the bronies can justify their extremely odd obsession with the show.

  • 01.16.2012 9:27 AM PDT

It is possible to commit no errors and still lose. That is not a weakness. That is life.

Cheeto is the only one among you that doesn't suck.

Why not just make it that all threads on the Flood are an instant lock? I mean, someone might take offense to them, and there is a chance that any of them could devolve into a flame war. So why not take a proactive step and just lock any thread on the Flood?

Oh wait, because the point of the Flood is to be able to discuss just about anything you want, within reason...

It seems a lot of people have forgotten that any thread could derail and become what the OP described, and it can happen instantaneously. It doesn't matter if the discussion is ponies or kittens.

I may find their "fad" a little weird and distasteful but they aren't doing anything wrong. The subject doesn't break any of the rules and it's the unusual fan base that gives it so much hype. As long as they aren't flaming each other or going against the rules there is no reason for the thread to be locked.

It's just a fad. It will pass.

They said that last year as well. It's not going to pass until the show sucks bro.

And I agree, well not with "they should be hit by a bus", but with locking the threads. Two pages in a brony said that it should be locked JAF didn't though, for shame JAF...

They're wastes of space - nothing is ever achieved in these threads. No worthy discussion comes out of these threads. These threads slow down the activity of all the other threads.
The very point of the flood is to hold said threads.

As for the flame wars, this can happen with any topic where a difference of opinion can occur, which is every topic in existance, this is just the latest topic people feel strongly about.

If there was enough topics about whether you should floss before or after brushing then you can bet your ass that eventually every single topic on the subject will erupt into a flamewar.

Maybe instead of banning all MLP discussion, just ban everyone involved in flaming.

Also a pretty good plan.

Fire the guy spitting in the burgers instead of taking burgers off the menu.

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

Ditto

I don't care if someone disagrees with a topic, but I hate when people say "this is stupid" with no feedback.

I wonder what would happen if you gave them a whole subsection in the Flood to filter them all out. That would be an interesting (and frightening) place.

  • 01.16.2012 11:54 AM PDT

This isn't going to happen. However people who start flame wars in those threads should be banned. That is inexcusable.

  • 01.16.2012 11:58 AM PDT

ISU Cyclones!

Let the trollers keep trolling and hand down the bans on those who deserve them. Don't punish the MLP lovers for the seething amount of haters that crop up over some show.

The excuse that they're annoying is not good enough for both punishment against the bronies and an excuse to create flame wars.

99 times out of 100 it's always a hater of the show that causes trouble.

As long as people on the flood watch the show, there will be threads.
Usually it isn't the people who watch it that are making the threads, but rather the people who rag on those who watch it.
